Description
Felt like drawing some flightless bird thingies. the top left one was an interesting idea: a bird that either puffs up its throat to intimidate predators, or shows its true face to gobble up prey.Om nom nom...

i'd really like to see how their wing structure works/looks. BUT WHY???? why can i not have him, you have, like, 6!

Some of them don't have wings (poor buggers), but they were mainly supposed to be land based/flightless feathered creatures. I like even numbers. 5 just doesn't do me justice!

haha, i'd still like to see how some of them move. i can imagine the bottom right one bobbing up and down almost to the floor as it walks and the bottom left one sliding like a penguin.

Hmmm...well, if i were to animate em, i'd make the bottom ones waddle much like penguins with their heads doing swaying or circular motions, while the top left and top right would run similar to those lizards that run on water; body and head stays relatively straight with little bobbing, while the legs go spastic. the top middle can run like a chocobo (i.e. how u'd imagine an over-sized chicken would run).

Oh you know, as usual, I've left everything till the last 4 weeks so now I have 5 assignments due, with about 1 week to work on each one lol. My final project is not even halfway done, and I haven't touched Virtual Environments since the first assessment D;
I heard a lot of people haven't been doing much either though, so as bad as that actually is, it makes me feel a little better haha!
How's your stuff going?

lol, sounds like everyone is feeling the bug wat's ur final project? an animation? i've no chance in making something like that...i don't even know if wat i'm doing is even allowed. they keep wanting more than a showreel when a showreel is pretty much wat we should be doing. ugh...and yet, this is all i can do right now.
My virtual environments one is simple - using mocap, but even then i don't really wanna do it. i'm not interested in motion capture at all. wish they got rid of stuff like that and integrated old school stuff into our assessment :s

Yeah, its a 2D anime, I'm doing it with my friend Jess, this girl:
Hmm, I don't see why not though, Jay is doing a showreel too? It's a bunch of 11 second club animations I think. And he's doing pretty much the same thing for VE. Plus, you have to do everything in half the time everyone else has so it'd would be pretty unfair if you have to do what everyone else is doing.
Yeah, I'm really dreading Virtual Environments atm, at first they said that it has to be something in Unity, but then people who are doing an animation showreel doesn't even have to do that, and if I knew this from the start, I wouldn't have bothered with all this Unity scripting junk and just do animations. I just wish we didn't have to do 2 major projects. We have barely any time to do each one plus our minor and elective, so it's just too hard to come up with something really great that you wont be embarrassed to show people =.=

Damn...seems like they haven't learnt much from the previous year's performance. sometimes i've no idea why it's always like this. i mean, is there specific aspects of the curricula that they need to achieve according to government standards imposed on universities, or are they doing this because they personally believe it's for the best? maybe they just wanna see us suffer *laughs*, so confusing...

Hahahah I think they just want us to suffer. A lot of people deferred already... Kinda wishing I'd done that now lol

Woah, really? who's deferring? it's a smart move, tho that depends on each person's situation i guess. whoever's pulling the strings must be the worst artist/animator in brizzie. ugh...

Ah, two of my friends deferred Virtual Environments at the start of the semester. So that gives them much much more time to work on their final projects, which was a good idea. Better that than having half dodgy projects in the end right?

It is better, so long as they're willing to keep doing uni for that bit extra longer. i just want it to be over.
