Description
Just another unicorn. I'm trying to do more normal patterns, but change up the colors like WOW so that it stands out a little more.

Oh, and this is my first picture done in prisma pencils. That's right, I finally got the top notch art coloring pencils. And ya know what? I like my crayola better.

Debating if I should keep this character and develop him, or if I should have him go up for adoption as well.

Comments? Anything I need to improve on? Opinions?

Um, dude? With the whole dark-green-and-white-mane-and-tail, he could TOTALLY be Berin's daddy.. who Berin knew only as a kid.... and is still living.....
-hugemassivetotallyobvious wink- -loud whisper- Bring him to the Vale!

Holy fanny feathers you're right! I'll send him over, he seems to already have a new owner already, and she's a part of the Vale too, I'll let her know and see if she likes the idea!

Sweet I love it. He just totally LOOKS exactly how I pictured Berin's dad.. really calm and powerful and wise.. and handsome, inevitably! It really is a beautiful drawing, dear. I am extremely impressed with your skills using colouring pencils; I've never been very skilled with them.

Wow.
He is so smexy! I think you should keep him and develop him. He could be an excellent warrior. The only thing I can see that looks a little off is how long the back legs are and that the front legs look a little skinny. Other then that though it looks great!

Really? Are you a member of the Vale? Did I miss you when I joined? I'm sorry! I should have noticed you there.
As for a new home, if you are a member, I wouldn't mind setting him up for adoption....

The Val is here and free: [link]
I'm Ulta there.

Well, ~the-em had an idea to have this guy be her Bernin's Sire. Same colors and white mane and all, but I was thinking that in exchange, you n me have a thread together with this green guy? My once condition if you do chose to adopt him for UotV.
And let ~the-em know if you like her idea of this guy being her guy's dad. I think she was really loving the idea.

Wow! He's a very gorgeous boy! I looove his colors The paint markings look very nice on him too.
Good job blending the black into the green, I'd say that wasn't easy!
I've always wondered; on your black sections, how do you get the white detail lines? Do you just color around them or go over the black with something when you're finished? It looks so nice :]
The major thing that I see is that his rump is higher than his withers. Which is actually ok if he's still a colt. I he is older though, that would be a problem.
Other than that nice proportions, he has a beautiful head

I had the paper at an angle when I did his quarters, sot they had been aligned with his withers, until I straitened out the paper and saw how long his back legs were. SO I think I'll use the excuse of, " They're like that cuz he's a jumper! Some sort of Warmblood mix or something..."
Bad excuse, but yes, they should be a tad shorter, thank you for letting me see that!

Also for the white lines on the face and crest, I simply have the face in black and white, inked and pause.Instead of coloring everything black and hoping my lines will work with a white gel pen or something, I simply outline it first, then color everything around it in black or whatever color is necessary. I will probably do a small tutorial about it, since there are a few others who have been asking as well.

Thank you, though I doubt my shading will ever look as great and beautiful as yours. And yes, I have to agree on the crayolas! They go where I want them, without the need to use a blending pencil.

I love his coloring. But green is my fave, and I really like black too. Maybe it's the way his standing, but his shoulders look a little droopy. I may be mistaken, but it still looks good. I really need to read these books. I own them. I've just never gotten around to them.

I have a set of 12 prisma (they happened to be the same price as the derwent at the time), and I like most of them, but I hate the black pencil. It's always breaking. Overall, I think I like my Derwents a little better. I really like my black Fabre Castello (or whatever it's called).

Either way, your coloring skills are amazing.

My black one did too! Over like, five times! Then I found out why. Me being me, I was using an electric sharpener. I found out online that you are suppose to sharpen the pencils with a small blade. Did that with a small pocketknife I have, then no broken tips!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Rebelshade In reply to Cool-Like-That [2009-05-18 16:16:09 +0000 UTC]

I used a hand held sharpener, and it continues to break. Several of them do, but the black is the worst. So I just try to be real careful when sharpening. My Derwents aren't like that, thankfully. I'll probably get them again when it comes time.
