Submitted to the #Bound-Group "Unconventional Bondage" contest: [link]
A few weeks (months?) back ~Angeloflifelight suggested a mermaid, I liked the idea, so here there are two.... It is also the second "Rescue" picture, here is the other one:
Other mermaids in bondage I liked:
~Shizuru-Minamino [link]
~DollBlue [link]
=rafCut [link]
But I no longer like my earlier Ariel...
A few references were used for the poses of the ladies.

I hope mermaids can really breathe under water.

Shiny lips, umm? I should have worked a little bit more on the tail then...

I'm just funny that way, tend to focus more on lips than tails.

So you figured out, how to move a fav to a collection in Version 7? I didn't....

Well, for something like this you can just click and drag - otherwise, you can put your mouse over the arrows, or go to the gallery. You can click and drag the thumbnails, even when you can't do the actual thing;

Thanks, I'll have a look, it just depends on what time I have - shame work in the way.

hmmm hmmm
so, everything but the girls is lacking in the detail/realism department
however, it all makes for a very nicely flowing composition (whoops pun)

I have no patience for anything but the girls. But I did spend a lot of time on the background nevertheless.

This is really put together well! I like the spiral motion in the composition, drawing my eye left across the bottom and right across the top. The idea is really cool, too!

Thank you! But I was amazed how many replies there came up with the "mermaid bondage" querie: not so original after all

Nice work and an interesting approach on the mermaid theme! Though unless she's been fed stones, shoudn't she be floating in the water? But enough of the physics ranting, Nemo alone adds even more win to the picture!

Old Japanese legend says that if you eat the flesh of the mermaid you will live forever. But that is another fish tale.

I like the poses but the tails look a little fake. The blond's eyes look a little freaky too...O.o Like she's blind or something.

Indeed, for some reason I had forgotten to give her an iris. Better now?
As for the tails, they stay as is: I wouldn't know how to make them more realistic

It's the way the tail bends. A "real" tail should bend smoothly in a C-curve rather than having a "knee joint." But it looks like you (and many other artists drawing mermaids) are using photos of legs as references, thus giving your mermaids knees in their tails.
The way the flukes look "glued on" rather than being smoothly integrated with the tail also contributes to the "fake" look.

Very good point, Sablesword. That's exactly how it went, without a thought. The next time I have to take a delphin as reference.
Did you ever draw a mermaid?

Lorneglomper In reply to cordefr [2010-05-17 11:40:12 +0000 UTC]
slightly. It looks a little better. And I'm not too sure how to help ya make them look more realistic.
