Description
Before your very eyes, fooled from view, it seemed like an exact clone of something you knew very well. & then slowly, as time went by, the chance to see truth came upon your eyes, accept the possibility of knowledge; knowledge to see the truth. & now, it transpires before your very eyes, something so alien, something so completely different from what you thought you knew. A whole new experience, the truth is finally before you.--
This piece, & partly its inspiration, is relatively inspired by a story/song by ~BrimstoneVomit , he asked if I would like to make some album art for his songs, I heard one of his songs 'The Alien' which had a story, I quite liked the song & it went very well with the story, the story is the key inspiration to the piece; I've tried to picture the planet as it transpires from what seems like earth, to the strange alien planet, as described in the story, You can check out the song/story here: [link]

I wanted to put some contructive comments, but i'm just in complete awe. The way you did those flares and the rays.. it's just beautiful! It's a cold piece but you can still feel some warmth with that sun, which is a great balance IMO. Nice manip too on the sat image... ah man! I can't help but stare at those flares...

You always manage to think of such imaginative names.
I like how you did the stars in the end, it worked out well. The saturation is a great help, I generally find.
There is a certain quality to the texture(s) that you have used in the image, that give the nebula a really light, fluffy feel. It's part of what makes the image so effective - the simplicity combined with detail, with excellent shape and form, and an eclectic mix of beautiful light colours. The close attention to the interactions of the light with the objects in the scene definetely paid off; the glow on the top of the planet is near perfect, and gives a sense of depth to the planet texture - I can actually imagine great landscapes down there. The planet texture is also ace - recognisable as the earth texture, but manipulated enough to be interesting. The stars are not overdone in the least, which is nice. What else is there? Composition, colour, form, scale - all the aesthic values complement eachother in creating a beautiful image.
I can't think of a critique...

sweet work, I can actually see depth in the layers of atmosphere and land. The lighting is great, the green radial/spead blurs are a bit too much tho cuz I don't know why you are trying to create an element of spead for, since it's so far away.
