Four wings and four extra faces makes me want to dig out quotes from Ezekiel.
Ezekiel 10:21: "Every one had four faces apiece, and every one four wings; and the likeness of the hooves of a mare was under their wings."

The descriptions of angels in Ezekiel and Revelation stuck with me, for whatever reason--these fantastic creatures of terrifying power. There's some primal, hard-wired-to-the-spine imagery scattered about in the Bible here and there.
