Description
Anatomyanatomyanatomy...Lots of anatomy assignments. Mostly master copies... with two extra "x-ray" versions, showing the muscles and bones underneath.
Tried to do Da Vinci... didn't work out so well.
Started a Liberace instead.
This weeks anatomy assignment: pick a cartoon character and do an anatomy study for it.
Soo... an excuse to draw something simple.
Kind of rushed through it because I wanted to get it out of the way (and it's due this morning... haaa.)
Scanner butchered it... So I took some photoshoop'n liberties to make it not look so butchered (added texture/color/contrast/etc...).
Ink, marker, watercolor pencil; on bristol. 9"x12"
Serious props to *spiritto , for his Pony Anatomy 101 . Saved me from having to completely "pony-ize" actual horse anatomy; cross-referenced his guide with other horse anatomy diagrams... and completed my homework in just over ten seconds flat.

Ponyatomy? It's a great day when ponies can help us finish boring chores like homework, so that we can get back to more important things... like more pony. Anyways, your study is amazing. I'm not an art school student myself, but I think you'll ace your assignment.
Also, I hope no Fluttershys were hurt in the making of this art.

If you made a big on of these (and it was a bit differently shaped), it would immediately be my background. It's such a great style. Nicely done again sir/madam.

They have very tiny internal organs and barely room in their skulls for a brain after the optic and otic volumes are taken into account! Just a teeny lil brain squished into the back of their skulls.

The wings should have bones in them, as evidenced by the x-ray of Dash's broken wing in the ep from a couple weeks ago.

That is gorgeous. Going right into my favorites.
However, there is one labeling error that I see: you have "canon bone" when it should be "cannon bone." Unless that was intended as a joke, of course.

Haaa... that's what I get for completing this in "just over ten seconds flat"...
So let's just call it a joke. It's a canon bone.
Pinkie pie uses her "canon" bone to summon her party cannon -which she uses to enforce the ecclesiastical laws of "partying".
So Fluttershy uses her canon bone for the powers of kindness. Kindness cannon?

It can't be depicted without causing massive DAWWW and HNGGG related carnage.
The death toll would be horrific, so depictions of the cuteness core have been outlawed by Celestia.
Celestia loves all her little ponies, and she refuses to put them at risk.

They say that the cuteness core is similar to the necronomicon in that if you look at it, your brain melts, but not of insanity, but of adorability.

Kinda weird to see the familiar anatomy I know squished up in pony proportions.

As a pegasus she should have really quite a muscular system around her chest and back (blade-bones). In fact, her chest should be bigger, much bigger because of that. Not even mentioning hollow bones and smaller, compact skeleton.
There is no cuteness left in realty :<

You are working under the assumption that pony pegasus flight is determined entirely by physiological characteristics... when you are forgetting some key factors in pony genetics.
To elaborate; Within the pony genome, there exists a special set of chromosomes that are responsible for determining many attributes, such as whether the pony in question has pegasus, unicorn, or earth characteristics.
These chromosomes are colloquially referred to as the "cute"/"cuteness chromosomes". It is these "cuteness chromosomes" that give unicorns their magic, pegasus their flight, and earth ponies their insight.
The cuteness chromosomes posses the special ability to act as a conduit for The Cute, which is a type of "energy" which exists all around us, within our world, our cells, and our minds. It is not something that is easily quantifiable, since there in no know way to measure this mysterious force; but it plays a unique role within the genes of ponies, to say the least.
So in conclusion: Pegasus locomotion is determined, not by muscle power, but by "cute power".

I feel like MLPonies would need a hinge joint where their spine makes a <90° angle haha, good job hiding it (whether intentionally or unintentionally) behind the shoulder bone.
