You already know my ire concerning Friendship Games due to certain missed opportunities that were just SO bad that I almost let it ruin the whole movie for me. But seriously, if the only development Flash is gonna get is via fanfictions, then that's just sad. Because let's be honest here, this is getting ridiculous.Related content

Josh Haber doesn't care about character development, He cares more about exposition. No seriously, his MLP two parters: Cutie Re-Marked, and The Crystalling, are littered with needless explaining, and padding. I discovered this when I watched both Rainbow Rocks and Friendship games back to back. Josh Haber's style of writing is just spoon fed story telling.

To be fair, Flash did get some focus in one of the pre-movie shorts. Not much, but it's better than nothing.

Truth be told, I think the issue is that he's an idea that didn't work out. They hoped audiences would be more receptive to Twilight Sparkle getting a love interest, but on a show that generates the subconscious idea that it's pro-feminist, I think too many people hated the idea their protagonist would go all smitten for a guy.
Funny, though...considering Haber wrote "Simple Ways" which presented Rarity as so smitten she was willing to change her identity to get someone to like her.

The movie had too many characters crammed into too little time, and Flash was the biggest casualty. That's the really frustrating part. Why bother with showing off characters that barely get anything to work with and we'll probably never see again, such as the Shadowbolt girls, when Flash is pretty much obligated to be in this series? I wouldn't blame the writers though. Clearly there's a team of executives who was like "We need you to fit all these characters (read: new merchandise) in about 71 minutes" and J. Haber had to do as he was told because contracts and such.

It possibly because the writers are too scared to actually do anything with Flash Sentry because of all the haters he has as such there too scared to give him an actual promerant role plus this hatred on Human Flash extends to Pony Flash because we know nothing about the pony version haters just assume he's just like the human counterpart but that can be far from the truth.

well one of the people working for the show said its jsut because they cant focus on that many characters, when someone asked if they hate flash or something

They obviously would suck at RPG's then. The idea is to develop as many characters as you can if they show promise. Background characters are one thing, but when you create someone that has a connection to the main character and acts as a supporting character, it's best to give some time and effort to justifying the character's existence. Otherwise...well...we've seen what's happened.Β

well thats one of the cons of movies, is that you have 2-1 hours to tell a story and you can only focus on few characters, this is a pro for a tv show in the case that you have 26 episodes each week to tell as many stories you want and so you can focus on other characters if you desire.
