brilliant exposure! IT must have been quite difficult to get eveything well exposed. I also like the composition in this, with the horizon lines of each section sloping slightly. Very beautiful shot.
Where did you find a 6 stop ND grad?
i can only find 2 and 3 stop anywhere

This is absolutely gorgeous. It reminds me Jim Brandenburg's "Pipestone Creek" picture. Fantastic colors and movement on the water. This is a 10

Wow, this is fantastic. Good choice on the 6-stop grad filter, hah. The saturation of colors and smoothness achieved is just mind-blowing. Your patience definitely paid off.

Absolutely incredible. When some take good photos of streams, OR of sunsets, you combine the two to create a visually stunning photograph.
Kudos to the artist.

this is a spectacular shot! may I inquire as to what manipulations were done to smooth the rocks and water (neatimage or something else?)? I love how vivid it is and how the flow drags the eyes down through each section of the photo

Great colours here, the treetops seem dark which make me think you have used the shadow and highlights feature to bring out the details? Very nice foreground and sky.

Thanks alot Scott
Nope, it gets dark on the top because of the grad filter drops exposure by 6 stops towards the top

This is beautiful! I love the reflections on the rocks. The only critique I have is that the trees look a bit flat (don't know why). But the river is amazing...

Very awesome shot. The colors are very cool, but my favorite part is def. how everythign is static, but the water is in motion.

Hey!! I Went camping there last month and took a bazillion pictures of it!! Actually, I almost died because it had just gotten finished storming so the rapids were really bad.... I fell under and hit my head and it wasn't cool. =X LOL it is SUCH a gorgeous place. Elephant Rock State Park has some cool spots to take pictures of, too! <3

now this is the type of shot I was looking for. Very, very beautiful. the tones really give a warm vibe that is extrmely comforting. I really like the different colors and how they blends so nicely. the gray of the rocks, to the green of the trees, to the warm orangish in the sky. Overall this is a great photo.

Beautiful work Mark. You're right about the orange reflections, but its not just in the stream, that marvelous sunset you captured comes out in the trees and the rocks also. Great focus and the water looks so soft it remind me of air. I love those little yellow tones in the clouds and that one rock hiding in the greens. Well done.

The colors are gorgeous! I love how some of the reflection was captured in the stream as well. I love the warm glow the sun casts on the rocks. The greens of the foliage just feel so vibrant and alive and contrast beautiful with the rich golden pinks in the sky. I definitely like how the silkyness of the water contrasts the solid feel of the rocks, it swirls around them like mist, almost. Such a beautiful scene. Excellent shot!
I just have a question for you - the filter - you said "6 stop grad filter to keep the sky exposed" - what exactly does that mean? I feel stupid, I have several grad filters, but I'm not sure as to what the 6 stop part of it means.

I just love how the water is orange too. God bless reflections eh? Reminds me of the water round here actually, during winter when it rains a lot the water turns orange.

Oh my god. This is just breath taking. Absolutely breath taking! I can't get over the beauty of it. It's so complex to look at with the various rocks at the bottom with the steady stream flowing through the cracks and crevices. It just seems so busy with lack of life, if that makes any sense to you. I adore the way the orange lighting has reflected on the rocks and stream below. Really add's even more character to the bottom half of the shot.
It's very interesting that you got the orange coloured rocks at the bottom half, then you have a vibrant green streaming through the middle of the shot separating the two orange parts of the shot. The rocks and sky. It has such a deep sense of beauty and tranquility... so peaceful. Wonderful shot.

Took me a while to comment on this...but it's just so surreal and cool! Love the stream...flowing so smoothly...and the levels of sky/forest/river - each with such great colours.

Gotta love those wide angles! Great exposure and sharpness. The long shutter worked on the soft look to the moving water. Glad you didn't get any tourists tripping into it!
