You know what Mark, something i havent done in quite some time is get critical in my comments and critiques. So people dont have a freaking clue!

Excellent capture, yes an exposure nightmare we had. I like both, the b/w adds a sense of mystery which this place has, the color shows the dramatic landscape it carries. Great shot my friend...And what gets me is, the blurred water wasnt needed..wtf!

yeah, i have had a long day, week, weeks, since we have gotten back. I have seen shit on this board, over faved images that are blurred or otherwise horrible dof. Manipulated photos that people actually think they shot, what ever. I dont care if i lose all kinds of people who watch me, but from here on out, i will be the professor i once had..lol

Hope things are well you way amigo, tired here, no rest, not much sleep, overworked, need to get out in this lovely weather..Ahh, you know, lol.

I agree 100% with you!
I guess you cant impress everybody, no matter what
Yeah the bullshit on this site is starting to get to me, and the thing that really has me pissed off is how the admins tried to silence * buildingclimber for speaking his mind on a very valid point, its just so fucking sad! I feel like the "red scare" is taking over DA.

I have been hanging over at Naturephotographers.net. They are very nice and helpful over there. A much more mature group of people. Im also learning alot over there, wich is great! Im not learning anymore here on DA, and my photography skills still have a long way to go. So I think im going to concentrate on more time over there

But everything with me has been great, very very busy, but good

I have to say I definitely prefer the black and white Narrows shot to the colour one. Not that the colour one isn't good, but I think the colours actually work against it. The sunlit red rock looks so vibrant that the browns and greys in the shadows look a bit lifeless. In this photo, the eye is nicely brought down the sweeping lines of rock to the "soft" water created by the long exposure. It's very dramatic and a pleasure to take in. It would be nice to get a bit more detail on the right side of the photo, but I understand the lighting made for a difficult exposure. I really think you did the best with what you had. Bravo!

quality image. I like the waterfall, but even that seems a little...mmm...muddy...not bright white. Good angle though, just the right amount of rock and water.

Amazing shot, BW was a perfect choice for the shot, as many have mentioned above. I like the frame too, it's different. One thing though the shot seems to be a bit washed with grey tones. The whites don't seem to be too vibrant. I found a great site that shows you how to work with Digital BW's that you might just want to check out, I found it very interesting and helpful [link] Please don't take this as disrespect to your work, just giving my

Thanks alot, I really appreciate peoples structured critism, I wish more people whould give it to me

I am familar with those techniques with digital B&W, but this shot was just a exposure nightmare, the light coming from above was so much brighter than the shaded scene that the exposure stop difference was over 6!!! If I had a decent grad filter with me, I might of been to pull off a perfect exposure. Oh well, im still learning

Thanks alot for your feedback, I really appreciate that

Take care

I love the composition here - how the water flow moves from left to right near the bottom of the frame etc - it's been well set-up and you've taken into account all the little details!

Stunning amount of detail - I would love to see this in person. I think you lost some of the contrast though when you converted this to black and white - it would be nice to see some more 'glows' from the waters surface and along edges of the rock - just to give this some depth etc.

Other than that I can't complain - this is wild

Thanks alot my friend!

Yeah, you need to see this stunning place in person, there is nothing in the world like it!
Its a hard place to photograph because the light coming from the top is way brighter than the light at the bottom of the canyon, so the exposure difference is huge
