Short Bio
In contrast to Bell Pepper's tough, no-nonsense attitude and Cucumber Melon's cheerful exuberance, Marigold can best be described as a sweet, gentle, and reserved soul that doesn't want to be a bother. She typically acts coy around others, though in reality, she can actually hold a conversation with someone for a long time, despite the fact that socializing does wear her out. She's usually pretty happy and doesn't let things get to her--though when they do, she'll give the offender the cold shoulder, grumble under her breath, or shut herself in her room and cry. Very rarely does she explode, and when she does, she's a force to be reckoned with.

She was that little filly who always wanted to show her love for everyone in small, but sweet gestures--though it has gotten her in trouble sometimes. Countless times she has picked flowers to give to her mom, because Mom likes flowers; unfortunately, she often picked them from the neighbors' yards, upsetting plenty of ponies. She has marched to the library to get her dad a book, because Dad likes to read--though he didn't like that she essentially stole them; she has since gotten a library card. She's tried to feed Forest's pets, only to be clumsy and either overfeed, underfeed, let the animal loose (which terrified her), or kill it. Naturally, Forest would be unhappy about it.

Like her brother before her, Marigold is not afraid of dirt, and actually quite enjoys it. When she and Forest got along (which was, aside from the pet incidents, often), they'd be having their own little mud fights in the yard, or building sculptures out of dirt, or trying to see how deep one of them could dig. Though, at the end of the day, Mari's willing to take a bath while her brother isn't. Heck, sometimes, as a pre-cleaning strategy, she take a dip in one of the local water ditches (which she and all four of her siblings loved to play in during summer).

She's usually the one to bring out the more feminine side of both of her older sisters, and when their mother arranges a little spa day for girls' night, Mari's usually the one to help Mom lead the charge. She has thrown a fit over failing to tame her sisters' wild manes, especially since she knows that their father has a naturally curly mane and manages to tame it. However, she makes up for it with massaging, makeup application, and holding conversation. And when extended family joins spa day, it's a lot of fun. Mari especially gets along with her Aunt Willow, who is a model that knows beauty and makes the spa day a grand time.

Mari considers one of her best friends to be her cousin, Cheesecake Chase. Mari is a year older than the mischievous pegasus, but she and C.C. do love to play games whenever their families visit each other. C.C. takes Mari flying and shows her tricks, and Mari brings her down to earth to show her the wonders of dirt and playing in a river. And of course, having fun at one of C.C. parents' parties doesn't hurt.

She liked to help her mother in her gardening hobby. So, when Flora fell ill enough to go to the hospital, Mari decided to maintain the garden while Mom was treated, and later recovered from the illness. In doing so, she had earned her cutie mark, but to Mari, that was a side note to how happy she made her mother. Still, she was encouraged to pursue a career with her talent, and when she was an adult, she got a job at a local nursery.

Aside from her calling as a gardener, Mari also loves musicals--some of her favorite memories are when her father took her to them, usually for daddy-daughter time, and when they saw a show at Bridleway when they visited Manehattan. She's also willing to help her stressed-out sisters relax from their work, go on hikes with her big brother, and laugh when her youngest brother is performing a comedy routine. However, she doesn't really get along with her younger brother, Ketchup, and try as she might, she has trouble finding common ground with him.

Still, she's a girl that loves life, and slows down to appreciate the beauty it offers her.
