edit: after a long time of being too lazy I corrected some details and I also changed the top picture.hope this can help people making a cute toothless mask!

Ahh! I'm going to try and make this before comic con. :3 But I have no idea where to get this kind of foam! Craft stores have that cheapy, crispy foam that just breaks easily. Any suggestions?

I think any foam will work that you can cut with knife and shears and that keeps its shape after cutting :> Maybe you have any old matress or upholstery (or some friends have), or sometimes DIY markets sell pieces of foam! :>

I'll continue searching! I'm having a hard time, but I can do it!!! Also, is the breathing hole on the bottom just a slit or is the entire bottom removed from the slit back? On the drawing it looks like a slit but on the picture of the back hole in the mask, the entire bottom is cut out?

yay! the breathing hole is just a slit on the bottom! the bottom is noch the back, of course the whole back has to be hollowed out, but the breathing hole is on the bottom and just a slit, maybe about 2 fingers long and broad

Hi again! About the foam...I know you said it could be mattress foam, but I haven't found any to use. Do you think upholstery foam would work? Is that the same thing? Thanks again. This has been so helpful!

I think upholstery will work too :3 Give it a try ^^ If you can handle it, I mean cut it and get it to the shape of your mask, it's fine :3

This tutorial is really awesome. I'd love to make something like this, I think my younger cousins would love to see toothless lol. Do you have any suggestions on where or what kind of foam to use?

Thanks! Well you could try to find an old mattress with foam in it, which you don't use anymore. Or maybe friends of you have old cushion furniture. Else maybe you can find pieces of foam in art supply shops or in DIY markets, you can glue together some flat pieces to a block, that won't make a difference to using a full block

Oh well I don't know how to add a hinge.. Thought about this for a long time but.. Seems that it's not possible to make this mask with moving jaw, because the mask itelf is quite soft and foamy :/

In the pictures the eyes look like they're convex, though...is that just a trick of the light or did you curve them somehow? Sorry I'm such a nuisance but I'm really OCD about the details when I make stuff ^^
