Description
Greetings, various denizens of the omniverse! I'm back with yet another new alien - this time, with a thematically-appropriate twist! In celebration of the long anticipated Pokemon Legends: Arceus, I have taken the liberty of redesigning one 's alien - one that specifically revolves around the world's favorite monster-collecting video game for the past twenty-five years and hopefully for many years to come.So grab your Poke Balls, pick your starter, and check your Pokedex!
Onto the facts!
Name: Collectiball
Species: Zu Gymorian
Home World: Ket Uchum
Powers/abilities: Collectiball's primary power is that of creature capture, containment, and taming. He is capable of producing small, green orbs from orifices in the palm of his hands that immediately expand upon leaving his body. He can then throw these at various organisms, which then absorb them inside through a process of sub-space information-conversion into a pocket dimension contained within the ball. Once released from the ball, the captured creature will obediently obey Collectiball's commands, even if it was originally hostile towards him.
Upon placing a capture capsule in the hatch within their chest, Zu Gymorians are able to run a biological scan of sorts that enable them to immediately learn about the creature within the capsule's biology, strengths, and weaknesses, enabling them to use them more effectively.
Collectiball's brain is hardwired to formulate complex and unorthodox strategies that allow him to capture opponents by surprise.
Depending on their age, Zu Gymorians have various numbers of capture capsules made and stored within their bodies, ready to be deployed at a moment's notice. These capsules take time to reproduce however, which is directly correlated to their physical health. As the Omnitrix's optimal genetic sample of a Zu Gymorian, Collectiball has ten capsules on hand and would be able to make another within ten minutes.
Collectiball is physically superior to humans and Galvan.
Weaknesses: Zu Gymorians can easily be overpowered by most species, such as Tetramand, Vaxasaurians, Polymorphs, Vulpimancers, Revonnahganders, and even Splixson. They are not suited for combat and rely entirely on the creatures that they've previously captured to protect and battle for them.
It takes time for Collectiball to reproduce another capture capsule. If his ten capsules already contain an organism and he wants to capture another, he will have to release one in order to make room. This can have disasterous consequences, as upon being released, he loses control over the previously contained creature and could be attacked in the process.
If the capsule used to contain a creautre is destroyed or damaged, a Zu Gymorian will lose control over them.
Collectiball is unable to capture and control robots or mechanical beings, as they do not register as living organisms by his internal scanning capabilities or capture capsules.
There is a limit to what creatures can be captured. Those with strong will, such as Celestialsapiens or Vilgax, will be able to break out of the capsule's containment if they are ever captured. Ectonurites, Necrofriggians, and Psycholeopterrans are also difficult, but not impossible to contain.
Etymology: Collectiball's name is a pun of "collectible" and "ball", referring to his ability to 'collect' various creatures using ball-like capsules.
Trivia: The species name stems from Ken Sugimori, the character designer and art director of the Pokemon franchise, which Collectiball is an obvious reference to.
The species' home world is taken from Ash Ketchum, the protagonist of the Pokemon anime series, who regularly collects and battles magical creatures much like Collectiball does.
The capture capsules that Collectiball uses closely resemble Poke Balls from the Pokemon franchise.
Creatures captured by a Zu Gymorian's capsules becoming friendly and tame, while also being another reference to the Pokemon franchise, is also a reference to Skylanders: Trap Team, which makes extensive use of this mechanic by capturing and 'rehabilitating' villains.
Collectiball's name was originally a working name for Ball Weevil.
The Zu Gymorians capsules is what will inspire the invention of the Null Void Egg technology that Ben 10,000 uses to contain alien criminals. However, Future Cooper will be the one to initially invent them for use by the Plumbers before Ben 10,000 is able to personally get his hands on some.
Khyber greatly despises the Zu Gymorians for their preservation of endangered species. This mostly stems from an intense rivalry he has with a Zu Gymorian named Byn Di, who seems to have made it her personal mission to prevent him from making successful hunts by capturing the animals he is tracking. She has even successfully captured Zed on numerous occasions before she came under Kevin's ownership, though before she had access to the Nemetrix.
Ket Uchum has many similarities to Earth, such as a relatively worldwide, temperate climate and numerous biomes and habitats teaming with some of the highest rates of biodiversity anywhere in the galaxy. It wasn't always like this however - thousands of years ago, the megacities of the Zu Gymorian spread far and wide across their planet, demolishing the pristine wilderness and forcing the native fauna into smaller and smaller pockets of habitat until the entire planet was on the verge of complete and utter biological collapse. Before this could happen however, a Galvan envoy headed by Azmuth visited and helped them to finally see and understand the sheer devastation they had caused. Enthralled by their peaceful urgings, the Zu Gymorian banded together to capture as many of the remain fauna as possible before they then expended the rest of the planet's resources to launch themselves into space, where they proceeded to construct enormous space stations with the help of their Galvan allies. Once this was complete, they then took to the task of rewilding the entirety of Ket Uchum by removing as much pollutants and remnants of their civilization as possible while replanting and allowing what little remained of the planet's biodiversity to recover; the specimens they captured were then released to propagate.
The Zu Gymorians have since terraformed and turned the remainder of the planets in their system into wildlife preserves for species from all across the galaxy, after stripping the previously uninhabitable worlds for their minerals resources. This allows them to maintain and reproduce the space stations they live on while allowing the endangered species of various worlds to recover their numbers. While Zu Gymorians do allow hunters onto their planets, they are closely monitored to prevent poaching efforts, which are taken and punished with extreme prejudice; even the intergalactic High Court has more lenient laws regarding the matter.
Because of their ability to capture and tame various creatures, Collectiball has no natural predator - a fact which severely annoys Khyber.
