Description Two uploads in the same month? And in the same week, no less? What sorcery is this!?

Wait a minute . . . anyone else getting a sense of deja vu?

Well, at any rate, here we have another entry for 's personal Ben 10 Reboot! To my current knowledge, most, if not all the aliens from the original series will be involved, with a handful of aliens from the other series (even though I would like to state, for the record, that I truthfully like all of them). Those that aren't involved were discarded because of their poor designs or their overly mechanical feel, if I remember correctly (even though I like to personally believe that they all still exist both in the Reboot's universe and Omnitrix) - with one exception.

For those that are aware of the Reboot in any capacity, you will know of an Omnitrix transformation by the name of Overflow. Personally, I feel he's the worst alien out of the entire show for a variety of reasons. For starters, he is a new alien completely unique to the reboot that didn't appear in any prior series, which is bound to draw confusion from fans that go back and watch the original series and expect to see him there - basically, why would you introduce a new alien with nine original transformations? Secondly, his design is exceptionally lazy and is practically a carbon copy of Water Hazard who, if you remember, is an alien with not only the same power set but the same color scheme. Remember those fans that went back and watched the original series? Yeah, they're probably scratching their heads in absolute confusion right now. And then of course, there's his mechanical look. I personally don't have a problem with, but it doesn't clash well with the rules of the project that I'm apart of, which is trying to avoid that.

So, yeah, not a big surprise as to why Water Hazard's little brother is getting replaced.

Onto the facts!

Name: Undertow

Species: Bathimobulid

Home World: Hukumaylm/Mystralia

Powers/abilities: By generating an electro-magnetic field around himself, Undertow is able to manipulate sources of water into a variety of shapes and forms, such as whips, walls, shields, and waves. He can also form water around his fists in order to enhance the strength of his punches and is able to change the temperature of the water by deciding the kinetic energy at which water molecules moves. This allows him to create clouds of steam or shards of ice, though this ability takes a significant amount of time and skill to master.

Undertow can breath underwater and swim at high speeds by pulsing his tentacles. He can further increase his speed by moving the water around him to shoot through the water like a torpedo, allowing to easily evade or catch up to targets. Furthermore, he can withstand a great amount of pressure, as his body lacks any bones that would otherwise break in such conditions.

Because they live underground, Bathimobulids can see in the dark. In addition, they have bio-luminescent patches on their heads and at the tips of their tentacles, much like vampire squid .

Undertow can control jellyfish and other Cnidarians because their bodies are up to 95% water.

Weaknesses: Undertow can't create water or pull it from nearby organisms and must rely on a direct source of water in order to manipulate it. This radius extends to about twenty feet, but increases the more water a source has.

Though amphibious, Bathimobulids can only last out of the water for twenty minutes at max. This time can be extended up to an hour if they hold water over their gills and indefinitely if they continuously churn it up in order to oxygenate it.

Because they are almost continuously wet, Bathimobulids are extremely vulnerable to electricity and can be knocked unconscious by even the smallest shock.

Etymology: Undertow takes his name from the natural phenomenon of the same name, which is an under-current that is moving offshore when waves are approaching the shore.

Trivia: The species name comes from the Bathysphere, a unique, spherical deep sea submersible, and Mobulidae, a family of rays, which is a reference to the cephalic fins on either side of their mouths.

The species home world comes from "hukkui maailma", which is Finnish for "drowned world".

The way that Undertow uses his hydrokinetic capabilities is extremely similar to waterbending from the animated Avatar series.

The Blue, the spiritual force that the Bathimobulids believe in, is an obvious reference to the Green, the mystical plane of existence for the hive-mind and life force of all plant life on Earth in the DC Universe.

Bathimobulids live in a matriarchal society, with family units primarily consisting of a single female - which can grow to be ten times larger than the males - and up to twenty related males. In their culture, it is customary for males to wear facial masks so that the females get first dibs on the clouds of zooplankton that they filter out of the water with their baleen. This allows production of the females eggs, which are directly attached to her circulatory system much like a mammalian fetus and thus exchange nutrients and fluids, to increase and the eggs themselves to rapidly develop. Once they've hatched and reached maturity, females will leave their family's behind to find a mate and start a family of their own.

All Bathimobulids are highly religious and believe in a divine force that they call "The Blue". The Blue is what they believe to be their spiritual connection to the ocean and what allows them to bend it to their will. Those that claim they are able to commune with the Blue itself are held in high esteem, regardless of their gender, and are said to be able to perform astound feats and miracles unparalleled by other members of their species. They even speak of a fabled individual who is the Blue incarnate and is said to lead them into a new Age of Water. So devoted are they, that seemingly losing ones connection to the Blue is said to be a fate worse than death.

The planet Hukumaylm is a temperate world whose subterranean ocean is only accessible by large pools connected to the surface, commonly referred to as 'Blue Holes' for their color. The majority of the planet's surface is covered in a patchwork of grasslands and forests, but has a number of mountain ranges and canyons cutting through the planet's crust. Hukumaylm's oceans support a rich abundance of sea life in the surface waters surrounding the Blue Holes, but becomes increasingly harder to find the deeper one goes.

Millions of years ago, Hukumaylm was a coastal world whose surface was primarily dominated by tropical seas. However, the planet underwent a mass extinction event that led to the global oceans draining into the extensive network of subterranean caverns beneath its surface. This allowed the flora and fauna that were previously confined to the planet's small continents and island chains to flourish and rapidly adapt to the available ecological niches. The marine life however, was forced to retreat underground and adapt to a subterranean existence, including the ancestors of the Bathimobulids. Now, millions of years later, they only venture out of the safety of the Blue Holes at night to scavenge for materials, lest they attract the attention of the Mountain Screamers. According to their mythos, the chilling, terrifying screams that echo from the mountain ranges are those that have lost their connection to the Blue and were unable to regain it. Desperate to have their connection to the Blue returned, they are said to descend down from the mountains during the day in search of those who foolishly stay out of the safety of the Blue Holes for too long and steal their connection to the Blue from them . . .

Unbeknownst to the Bathimobulids, they share their home world with another intelligence species, the Xenorthrax. Though they originally dominated the planet, the Xenorthrax came to rise to prominence in the wake of the mass extinction that struck their homeworld, much like how the mammals took over in the absence of the non-avian dinosaurs. The two species are practically unaware of each other's existence due to being active at times of the day, with the Xenorthrax being diurnal and the Bathimobulids being entirely nocturnal. This has unfortunately resulted in them being demonized by each other's respective cultures and considered little more than legends.
