This is just how I go about doing ANY animals, really. but I used Miles' pic for reference since it was up at the time and I still had the stage layers, so. there ya go. Hopefully it helps.
Can be applied to digital painting OR traditional drawing, since it's pretty basic stuff. I also suggest researching the animal you're trying to draw: Bone structure, muscle, how the skin hangs/folds/moves, eyes, ear positions, and the like.

looks great just wondering, now i may be wrong, but the dog you've used is that by chance a Pharaoh hound? if its not i'm sorry, it's just we own the breed and its the first that came to mind

lol that's cool because we have one of those too mum has a thing for the rare breeds, we started with the St. Bernard then we got a Fox Hound and Pharaoh's and i think 3 year's back we got a Ibizan, Picture of her on my old Photo-account [link]

lol don't give up! Try breaking it down into simple shapes, and don't forget: references are your friend! maybe try looking up muscle structures of dogs to see how the skin would lay over the body? :>
