Summary
Aphex (pronounced apex) are lanky, humanoid creatures that have inhabited the world after the extinction of the human race in 2062. The species was first created by humans synthetically around 1900-2000, however, after the downfall of the human race, they have evolved to become the dominant species, which includes the prominence of their own society, languages and religions. They were created to become a bio-weapon for war. An intelligent soldier that requires no food and can work for days on end. Aphex have no mouths, and instead to communicate, speak with their hands in a sort of sign language, and writing which can often be compared to hieroglyphics or simply English. They can not talk but can create a sharp clicking sound in their throat, attracting the attention of others so they can speak with their hands. Aphex can also create much more sophisticated sounds using their throat due to a remnant of a tongue. Aphex also gain nutrients from the sun instead of eating, like plants or reptiles. They can last quite a while if they spend a day "charging up" which means many of this species can survive underground for weeks on end. Aphex do however need to absorb water through their skin from time to time. They can also absorb other liquids which make toxins and poisons very effective on contact.

World
The New World 2062+
Aphex live in an apocalyptic world, the only presence that humans once walked upon the planet was the buildings and creations they left behind. Aphex have adapted to survive in this environment, repairing buildings to inhabit them once more. There are a few major districts ruled by "kings" where Aphex can live a life that may be similar to how humans may have lived. These districts usually have power stations, new architecture, laws, medicine etc. Some, however, relish in living in the overgrown cities, flourishing with wildlife and treasures of the extinct race still hidden within. Others prefer pure nature, no man-made creations in sight. Those who do choose to live in cities have come accustomed to wearing clothing and using their species own inventions, inspired by human inventions, remaking technology with the previous knowledge that humans have collected. Even though Aphex have no need to eat, some still hunt animals for sport and materials, yet most treasure and coincide with them. Some districts hold battle tournaments to praise the strong over the weak. Aphex have rock hard heads, making it very hard to crack once they have reached maturity. Aphex must use their heads to ram each other off balance, the victor usually bathing in praise and riches, however, there are much more dark versions of this sport.

The Old World 2062-
There was a time when Aphex and Humans lived together peacefully. Aphex were viewed as lesser beings, almost like pets with intelligence. They were never given the same rights as humans. They worked for free and lived with their adopted families. They were forced to follow some basic rules; Never harm a human, Always do as instructed by your owner and do not act with ill intent. Aphex were quite content with this lifestyle, but some had a suspicion about their rights. It wasn't uncommon to find an Aphex working away in a coffee shop or handing out papers in the morning. Some humans learned basic hand signals to communicate, but most common was a collar on the Aphex's neck that registered the Aphex's hand signals and quickly converted it into English or the desired native language. Aphex and Humans relations were harshly restricted. You could not adopt an Aphex if you have had previous convictions or an unstable home.

Appearance
Aphex are most distinguished by their long necks and their beak-like snouts, which are mostly used in battle. They can be covered in fur or leathery skin and have a range of different ears. Their bodies are very lanky, their bones also surprising flexible, which means they can twist and contract their bodies to impressive angles. This species can walk on both two legs and four legs which is based on the Aphex's personal preference. Aphex have tongues, but they are hidden in their closed throats and never seen. Aphex can have body modicifactions.
