I'm sorry for not posting something in a while. I even have a few watercolors I can post but I've been too lazy.
So this is Mallow in the Pokemon art style of DP/BW/XY. I say, she looks a lot better god, the current anime really needs some more shading. The shading would help make up for the fact that the Pokemon frames aren't drawn to par of most other anime. Now the show looks like it's permanently victim of a crappy animation director.
With that said, I like all 3 girls in the cast, though I feel like I don't get to appreciate each girl individually enough aside from Lana. Lillie has saturated the internet with her high popularity and Mallow just kinda blends in with the scenery. I think Lana gives me Misty vibes. She's a tomboy who wears her hair up, has a bold hair color and is taller than Ash.

Mallow is my favorite Alolan girl with Lana a close second. I would like Mallow to travel with Ash because that way she can cook great meals whenever for Ash.

I can't say I'm surprised Lana is your favorite, she's another female water pokemon trainer who is a bit tomboyish. For some reason I notice a lot of Misty fans like her, for the same reason they liked Iris because she reminded them of Misty. It's weird how a lot of Misty fans tend to like the same characters.
Lillie is more similar to Dawn/Serena, etc. in that she's another girly character with cute pokemon who looks up to Ash for guidance. Again, Lillie fills that whole "beginning female trainer who doesn't know what she wants to do" vibe like the other girls. Her not being into battling is similar to Serena to, and the whole fear of pokemon thing was similar to past girls.
Mallow is most similar to Shauna from XY, or any type of bubbly female character in anime, which is probably why her personality doesn't stand out as much because it's so similar to any other anime girl.
That being said with these 3 new SM girls, Ash now has 8 female companions, 9 if you count Bonnie. Man, back in the early 2000's when people were trying to make a big deal out of Misty being "replaced" little did they know Ash would eventually have 8 more female companions after her, essentially making Misty just one short lived female character who has essentially been replaced 8 times. Β It really makes you kind of look back at laugh at the more obsessive fanboys who wasted the last 15 years whining over Misty's departure, only to watch her stay gone for the rest of the series since 2002 regardless. Also I don't know if you kept up with the news, but Movie 20 which is a remake of Kanto also removed both Misty and Brock as Ash's companions, so she'll probably not appear unless just as a quick cameo as a Gym leader maybe.

Eh Mallow reminded me more of Misty. I believed I even mentioned it in the description.
I like Lana for other reasons. Maybe her hair reminds me of Clair's, combined with her strange eyes and her small awkward stature. If anything, she reminds me of Max or Clemont's little sister. No idea where you got the Lana/Misty connection here, she's just an adorable loli. I think you fixate on Misty and her fandom too much.
Also I really like Lillie and Mallow as well. It's just that there are too many girls so I needed to focus on one.
I'm ticked off about the new movie but only partially about the potential absence of Misty. I'm ticked off that that Makoto man-girl is being fabricated from this air when this would be the perfect time to introduce Leaf. Same blue color-scheme and everything.
I do talk with two big Misty fans almost regularly and they just want "closure". Maybe her being at her gym forever isn't a satisfying ending for them.
