The upcoming fifth generation of the My Little Pony franchise is reportedly right around the corner, scheduled to début on screens around the world sometime in the next few years.
Recent leaked images , which are believed by some to be concept art for the new iteration of the property, have created concern amongst many fans, who fear that any successor to Friendship is Magic could fall short of expectations, with some suggesting that the redesigns are 'horrific' and 'an atrocity'.
I spoke to a number of fans who gave their views on Generation 5 of My Little Pony and outlined some of their concerns.
What do YOU think? Should My Little Pony Generation 5 use the same characters, or should it use an entirely new cast? And will you miss Friendship is Magic when it's gone? Let me know!

It was part of the leak, so I have no idea - presumably someone coming up with concepts for a Fluttershy redesign for Gen 5.

The thing is we become attached to many things, and change can scare most.
we still do not know why Hasbro want to make this massive change.
But you have to look at it like

The more odd thing is the EQG might carry on even with Gen 4 ending.
Emails can be faked, Hasbro may never say anything until the time .

My honest opinion is with this, i do not mind change, to the fandom is just calm down.
The fact people are having a heart attack over something that is most likely in early development or could just be fake .
4Chan are known for trolling , but to me i would not mind seeing a new gen.
Gen 4 from season 8 so far is half a mess but that's how i see it as.
If people are threating to email Hasbro, they won't care nor listen.
it is not our decision nor company, they will most likely read it and just delete it .
If this gen is real then by all means leave, no one is forcing you to look at this.
Again this shit could be fake or early stuff.

The one thing we can do is tell hasbro by email, Twitter, Facebook, anything tell them that we the fans of this show do not want this. It may not work but is worth a shot

I just kind of worry about this modern obsession with applying pressure on people with hashtags/mobs. In some instances it has its place, but it can also stifle creativity when the people in question haven't necessarily done anything wrong.

A new generation will be required after the next season (8).
I saw some of the "beta episodes" and I can tell you that will be a disaster (Yes I know, this is just a my opinion).
For the new G, I think that the design isn't that bad (exept for that Twilight whitout horn and wings, that's a realy bad idea, I hope they will change it), but for now we can just wait.
Ho, yeah, and that style of the picture of Pinkie Pie... It seems a little bit a return to G2... Please not.

What I saw?
1. Twilight will open a friendship school for every spiece we saw even in the films;
2. Chrisalys will return
3. The Canterlot castle will be like we saw in the last film (I don't know why);
4. The Crusaders will have a friendship mission;
5. Spike will obtain wings;
6. The opening will change.
Ok, but why I didn't appreciate that season???
Well, the personality didn't exist, this idea of the Friendship School, for me, is a drama and the character were reacting realy wierd.

A more sophisticated opinion on the matter stated that like with Transformers, Hasbro might use the same character in differents variations in different generations. A possible way to use an established IP new.
Makes you wonder what else they will change and what not. New VAs, perhaps?

Changing the VAs might cause uproar, then again if the characters change in the way they are written, why use the same VA? Not saying they won't do a good jbo (far from it!), but I was also told that with every new season, they get more money. Perhaps Hasbro wants to go new ways and safe some money as well - but I really don't know how they tick, nor how this business works in general.
I don't give a lot of thought on concept art at the moment, to be honest. When final pictures will be released - or the first new episode as aired - I may comment.
However, you cannot re-do a perfect game, so to say. And FiM itself was a surprise hit for everyone, including all of its creators. You cannot plan a surprise hit like that, and bronies in general are a very heterogenous mix. A lot of different opinions, people who care more for the creators, people who care more for the product, people who are crazy, normal, who are assholes... *shrugs*

It's true that lightning doesn't strike twice in the same place, so I'd be surprised if Gen 5 was the 'hit' Gen 4 was. Truly unprecedented thing, the furore around Friendship is Magic - very interesting to watch unfold.
That said, if Gen 5 follows this art style it could be even better:

What is Hasbro playing for? Are they seriously putting effort to ruin an extremely successful franchise? FiM is a very big hit and they purposely want to make it go downhill? G5 is literally be like if the mane 6 was thrown into an another dimension. First they make Twilight into an alicorn and now they just decided to completely downgrade her. None of the mane 6 characters will be the same who we loved before. They will feel and look like a cheap clone.

You'll get used to it after a while. Someone made a photo showcasing how all this works. First, denial, then anger, depression, what I would believe acceptance afterwords. There may have been a fourth stage where acceptance is the fifth.

Thing is, this is nothing new for this franchise. They've been rebooting it for the series. I for one, will gladly take the G5 designs over the G4 designs any day.
The show went downhill for me ever since Glimmer became a protagonist up until Flurry Heart's major episode in season 7.
