The upcoming fifth generation of the My Little Pony franchise is reportedly right around the corner, scheduled to début on screens around the world sometime in the next few years.
Recent leaked images , which are believed by some to be concept art for the new iteration of the property, have created concern amongst many fans, who fear that any successor to Friendship is Magic could fall short of expectations, with some suggesting that the redesigns are 'horrific' and 'an atrocity'.
I spoke to a number of fans who gave their views on Generation 5 of My Little Pony and outlined some of their concerns.
What do YOU think? Should My Little Pony Generation 5 use the same characters, or should it use an entirely new cast? And will you miss Friendship is Magic when it's gone? Let me know!

Yeah, I don't really agree with his opinion. I don't want a completely new cast. I would like to stick with the G4 cast we grew to love.
Here's how I would like to happen...
Leave the G4 cast, do some minor change that still wouldn't ruin the characters completely like: a few extra shapes around their cutiemark or just tune them a bit up, make an alternate purpose for the mane 6, leave Equestria in it and make them explore the rest of it. It would be so great if G5 was in the same timeline as G4 but like a bunch of years later.

Personally, I think they'll be very sensible with whatever approach they take and will opt for a nice art style that appeals to everyone. Of the leaks, my favourite has to be the Fluttershy here, who I think captures the essence of the character that people have come to know and love exceedingly well:

I'll wait until we see the finished product to judge--but I don't think that they should use the same characters for a different generation. It's too weird, and too many people are attached to this generation to see them so skewed. I think that the seasons are running pretty low on ideas though, so after they tie up a few loose ends it might be time for a change.

First of all, I simply REFUSE to look at any of the art that may or may not predict how G5 of MLP characters will look. But considering some of the leaked images and the art based on them I'm pretty sure that I won't stick with the series after the current generation is discontinued. :/
One thing that made me fall in love with this series is the animation style: despite being simplistic it managed to save the colorful nature of the previous generations - ergo it was a win-win situation. I don't see that with the upcoming gen.
Oh, and reducing Twilight to an earth pony: I get the concept behind the decision - refreshing the characters - but it's a stupid decision anyway.

Hasbro already proved it's capable of making an appealing visual style - see the MLP movie, which was refreshing yet familiar in what animation style is concerned. They should remember that when drafting the fifth generation.

I like the concept art but honestly, I wish they had just made new characters, it'd be a lot more interesting with the idea they're working with, then no one is going in with any prenotion of who the characters are meant to be.
I mean honestly, what's the point of 9 seasons of character development if you're just going to throw it out the window and reboot it all with an AU.

I honestly don't like the fact that Twilight doesn't have a horn... like how exactly can she do her special talent if she has no magic?! Also I do like the idea of Pinkie having wings since she was originally supposed to have.

If they want to make the rest of the Mane Six alicorns, I say go for it. I'm hoping they'll do it before this series ends.

But for the most part, I'm staying optimistic, and trust in what they're doing. I may not have liked Starlight Glimmer as a protagonist, but I didn't lose trust in them even after season 6's trainwreck.

People should remember though that these are very early concepts. No where near final yet. And the biggest thing. That these were stolen by some filth that hacked into Hasbro and DHX's files to get them.
I read somewhere that DHX is now going after them for doing so.
