So how do you compare this episode to the others this season? Also would someone who is not a huge fan of Fluttershy (as mentioned in your review, can be condensed down to a couple of characteristics in most episodes, etc) be interested do you think?

I think this one is a fun little story for all audiences. It's cute and decently written - if you're bored, give it a go :') one of the better episodes of the season, in my opinion.

I can't agree with the score of this episode. This is a slap in the face to Fluttershy. Everything she has accomplished and her growing bravery is tossed out the window. Fluttershy being afraid of bags of candy is not funny. It's sad and cringe worthy. The ending really disappointed me. Fluttershy went through all of this trouble, and wanted to be a part of Nightmare Night, and then goes back to what she was doing before. It felt like nothing was accomplished. I would go more into it, but my review that is already up will speak for itself.
It gets and "F" from me. It's just a bad episode.

The point is she's not afraid. She likes being perceived as being afraid. She CAN go out and do all that stuff no problem. It's just not her thing. Some folks like being a certain way and that's OK. At least she knows what she's capable of. Just look at Do Princesses Dream when she gets to be the pet-that's Fluttershy. She's subby and likes it that way.Β
If anything this episode shows she's not afraid of being who and what she is and it sends a message that just because someone doesn't show courage the way others do it doesn't mean they're not courageous or that they have to change to suit how others feel they should express themselves.Β

I don't mind the moral as I appreciate the show for trying to be different, but Fluttershy wanted to be a part of Nightmare Night. It feels like nothing happened at all. We could've just had another Nightmare Night episode with Luna, or an adventure with the other main characters.

She didn't want to be part of Nightmare Night. She felt she was letting her friends down by not being into it the way they were. If anything it's closer to being similar to Hearthbreakers. She celebrates it just in her own way and that's OK.Β

Hearthsbreakers actually covered this moral much better. It showed that there are others who celebrate certain holidays in different ways. That episode handled that moral way better. This episode feels like a poor retread of it with Fluttershy's character being derailed and it feels like nothing was accomplished.

She wanted to tryΒ to be a part of Nightmare Night, for the sake of her friends. She tried something and decided she didn't like it, showing that you don't have to like everything your friends like. I.E., in High School almost all of my friends liked Naruto, and I didn't very much care for it. I gave it a shot, watched almost all of the first season, and decided it wasn't for me.

Scared of a bag of candy....? Β She will go up to a freaking bear (i forget, was it a bear?) and go "ohh, you have a thorn in your paw, let me help you" but a bag of candy has her screaming?
Yeah...I feel the whole show is in seasonal rot.

She's screaming because it's an act. She likes others perceiving her as being timid and gentle. That's why the scene where she points out to Pinkie all the stuff that could go wrong. She knows full well what she's doing.
