While the episode was pretty meh on its own, this is probably my least favorite episode. NOTHING HAPPENS.

Well the episode havehis humor and is some part are hilarius, i agree with you that the final lesson ois nice, but i feel, rare, because acordint to the length in the series it has been one year since they become friends, and non of the ponies think in a library, building a library, i mean thats the first think that anyone would have think, thats the only think i found bad

All characted were flanderized beyond repair. All of them acting like morons and not realising that a book worm pony might like books? Yet again Rarity use Spike for favors. Nothing changed for the better, characters went backward to S1
Only Bulk Biceps had some development as a having job at the spa

You two do realize that they have to do that with the characters, to reintroduce them to the audience in each season?
It's required by Hasbro. Also, flanderized beyond repair? No. That's rainbow falls. These are moderate flanderizations that quickly pass over.
Second, they do realize she might like books. Fluttershy says so in the episode. They even get through the whole not getting what she wants thing about halfway through the episode.
Third. She already has books, Celestia's been giving her those. They can't just give her books, they needed something special, like the library's roots. Beautiful moment. Shows how much the show's improved since its first season.

It was a little obvious what the problems and solutions were and half the time I was sitting here eating m chocolate caramel pancakes with peanut butter, boysenberry syrup, and whipped cream with a wide glass of chocolate butterscotch milk (yes, really, I really made and ate that. It was delicious and I kind of laughed when they were having pancakes too. I am a fatty mcfatterfat) thinking to myself 'come on, you're thinking of yourselves, not Twilight, Twilight is a geek and loves books, get to it already." I'm just glad it was Applejack who spoke it (as she's my favorite and gets little enough attention as it is, especially from Hasbro). Although Twilight would probably like a keepsake or two from her friends, a hodgepodge of everything each individual pony loves would not.
Ultimately I liked the ending and thought adding all of their memories in their gems was a neat idea. It feels like a cliched children's sitcom idea though I can't recall any at the moment to compare it to. All in all I think B- is a fair grade, though I would probably be a little more forgiving.

Dailymotion is awesome and it's not just for bronies. I found episodes of Panty and Stocking with garterbelt and someone even uploaded parts of an NC-17 rated movie (it doesn't even have a age gate)

I find it odd that in the first act, Twilight was actively avoiding the castle. Yet, Spike was trying to distract Twilight from going to the castle about halfway through...Oh well, it was very cute and sweet. I'm pleasantly surprised that the writers were able to characterize the Mane 6 pretty well in here. Pinkie was pretty random, but not stupidly random, as in the Season 4 premire and several episodes in that season.
With regards to the chandelier having memories, I think it was Rarity's doing. She specializes in gem related magic, so it wouldn't surprise me if she knew a spell to engrave those memories onto the gems. Rarity projected precious memories from the past onto the gems so that they could stay with Twilight forever. That's the only way explanation I have. ^.^

Interesting explanation re: the chandelier. Also you make a good point about the distraction oddity - one of the reasons why I didn't rate the episode higher. You also make a good point about Pinkie Pie being random without being stupidly so, so good stuff!

Probably a B-. C+ is a bit too low, but it's definitely not higher than a B+ or A-. I was so afraid that Pinkie would be incredibly stupid due to the new writers, but she was bearable here. ^.^ If not for the juxtaposition between Twilight wanting to leave and return to the castle, it would be better. I mean, she avoided it so much that she was losing so much sleep.
I rather like what they did with the castle since it was cute how they each added a special touch to each room. The stuffed animals in Twilight's room was the sweetest one, I think. However if the castle looked like this, it would have been amazing! I think Rarity could do some work. :3

Yes, it's slightly better than average, but not amazing. Yeah, that's a fan art that was made not too long after the Season 4 finale. I'm looking forward to seeing the writers' future episodes. ^.^

Hmm, thinking about, Twilight wanting to go to the castle makes sense. In the beginning, she was saddened at the thought of returning to the castle because of the loss of her precious home, and avoided it by helping her friends excessively. After being comforted by her friends and treated to a luxurious spa treatment after losing sleep for quite a long time, I think it relaxed her so much that she was actually looking forward to seeing the castle, explaining why she wanted to go back. It would have been nice if Twilight had said to Spike, "You know, all this time, I was afraid of going back to the castle because it doesn't feel... right...but I trust that my friends will make it feel like home. I can't wait to make it back!"

Though I still wish they'd explain HOW exactly they engraved all those little photos into the crystals flawlessly.
But still, a very powerful and heart-felt episode, though Bulk Bicep had the most hilarious damn scene. Did anyone else also get a big nostalgic when they referenced the Season 1 episodes?

Okay, yeah. The message was good, and the way most characters were written was fine as well. The song seemed pretty generic to me, and even though Pinkie Pie doesn't seem to be as stupid as in season 4, I started thinking that none of the actual writers/editors know really what made Pinkie special in season 1 & 2. They turned her down, but I still miss some of the brain and caution she showed in the first seasons. But yeah, no reason to jump out of the window so far.
And did Spike really turn up with a Rarity-plush, or did you make that up for the heck of the joke? *goes back to the episode to look for it*

This episode had so many feels, amazing, sweet and kind of sad. Which was good, the song was good to listen to, I'm going thinking of it. One more thing, I did love seeing the roots of the Golden oaks library in the castle, I thought that was awesome. I really did enjoy this episode so much.
