I can make it. However, you can just use free software such as winrar or winzip to extract the file, right?

This skin was my 2nd DA skin ever. It doesn't contain super stable coding as I was amateur in coding that time. You can actually add menus but to display it correctly some coding changes is required!

You need to download and extract the files first and you'll get a word file explaining how to do it.

You need to copy each set of CSS & HTML codes to its respective place and then type in the content in your journal.

You are opening the files in a wrong application probably. You need to extract the files using an unzip software then you get a document file inside it. Open that one and you shall get what you want!

The whole journal background is the tiling paper pattern so why background color?

If you remove the background image link you are left with a totally different colour from your image. It makes it look unfinished
