Description
A 3D model I recently did of the Master Sword, from Zelda: A Link to the Past.I recently found some high quality scans of the artwork from the manual, and some official art, and got to thinking about the older design of the Master Sword.
I have an alt colored Ocarina of Time model that uses the same base color scheme (gold and red, I forgot about the green and the light blue shade on the blade) but I decided to try making a totally new mesh and texture.
I used this as reference, since I liked the colors: [link]
I'm impressed with the end results, it looks almost (almost)spot on to the reference pic.
Since there's no "official" art for the sheath for it, I decided to design and make one from scratch. I think i did fairly decent job making it match the sword, came out looking kinda like the sheath from Twilight Princess.
In other words, i overdid it on the sheath's details.....
Yep, this is what happens when the retro geek in me collides with the 3d artist in me.

The sheath looks awesome. Any chance of designing ones for the tempered and gold sword from the game?

Ya know I had an idea to do something like this awhile back. I always did like this version of the Master Sword. I guess you beat me to it. I think you did a great job. Awesome!

You did pretty well using materials on the sword - especially like the blade- and the sheath looks like a piece of jewelry - impressive!
Just one little weak spot: the gold on the sheath looks a little dull when compared to the gold of the sword's hilt.
Great work!

Thanks, I got lazy with the shine on the sheath, mainly because I was trying so hard to match the gritty, "weathered" look I gave the sword, but I wound up just using some regular gradients on it, I wanted a dull shine, but I got more dull than shine.
I might go back and add more shine to the sheath later.
