Description
The USS Orca from the 28/29th Century after undergoing an experimental phaser refit. These phasers were new Mk1 phaser panels, similar to the phaser strip, but fitted and operated in a hexagonal grid pattern, instead of a straight/curved line. This allows each array to direct charge along more axis than just along it's length, making for a more compact design with increased effective power. The panels can also discharge as group to produce a phaser wave (spreading out and dissipating over distance) that can destroy incoming projectiles without needing to target them specifically or at lower settings act to push objects like asteroids in space by ablating their surface.
