Description
The Origami class was developed after extensive research into the coaxial warp drive (A warp drive that folds space). The ship is 502m long from bow to nacelle tip and is fitted with Mk 1 bi-axial nacelles, that include polarically modulated subspace particle intakes as well as the standard Bussard collectors, that feed the coaxial warp core.Coaxial warp, when tested on a small scale, as well as being incredibly fast, due to it's nature of folding space, was also shown to be virtually immune to unstable subspace regions and other areas of space where conventional warp or even transwarp was hindered. As a result of this, when the technology had matured the Federation decided to create a dedicated line of ships capable of safely traversing and exploring these regions. They also provided a backup means of rescue, in the event of a subspace incident.
Note: This view shows shows the subspace particle intakes better, tucked under the Bussard collectors.
