Someone suggested this design could be a portable research facility. So I thought I'd give a science variant a go.

Science variant of the Tachi class interception and pursuit ship. Designed to track and analyse fast moving space phenomena that might otherwise outpace most other science vessels or probes. The phaser cannons have been removed and the torpedo magazines have been replaced with sensor pallets, and a probe magazine. Additional structural integrity stabiliser paddles have been added to the base to allow the sensors to get closer to turbulent anomalies. Also the shuttle bay has been enlarged to allow for additional analysis equipment or for an extra shuttle to be stored internally.
