Description
This is page 1 of a short war story collaboration between (story and script) and myself. I decided to go full on EC retro, using as much Wood and Kurtzman influence as I could muster. I'm super pleased with this page, especially the splash.Rain is a pain!
Big thanks to for working with me on this. I plan to work on the other 3-4 pages in between my other 'assignments' as I get time.

That's very heavy scenery. Is the tiltle really coming withe exclamation mark?

"heavy" as in "good", or "heavy" as in "too much"? I'm not 100% sure of your syntax, but yes, the exclamation point is part of the title - in an attempt to emulate the classic EC war comic style.

Heavy as in "impressing" and "very much".

Very promising, Chris. I'm kind of glad I've been off dA for a while, since I love a good backlog of stuff to go through.

Aw, now, Holy Crap! This the second collaboration I've seen this week between two of some of my favorite artists. This is so exciting to see. I feel like I'm seeing a cross-over between the JLA and the Avengers all over again.
I'm so looking forward to seeing what happen next. Beautiful beginning.

That is one epic scene. Just looking at the piles of bricks and rubble make me weep at the thought of the effort you put in.

I kinda feel the same when looking at it as a whole, so I compartmentalize it into bits so as not to get discouraged.

The first thing I thought when I saw this was old EC war titles. Pleased to see it was intentional.
Good job!

Excellent! Those "Kurtzman zoom effects" are cool. I use 'em once in a while and they work great.

Thanks! I do cheat a lot with backgrounds with lots of perspective stuff going on by lightboxing photos, but I'll tinker with them quite a bit too.

My brain has exploded. Oh god, this is amazing. I love the detail you put into the page, I think you out did my page breakdown. I totally see EC influence. This is absolutely stunning. Chris, this is just stunning, if my arm could reach that far, I'd pat you on the back.

Thanks Larry, I'm very happy you like it, and don't mind the slight liberties taken with panel order. I'm not sure when I can do the next page as this project is in between other current ones, but it is gonna be fun doing genre work with you.

Well it's the best thing about being fluid when you are dealing with projects. Great things come out of it. I wish you the best of luck on your other projects, and look forward to your return to the story. It shall be stunning.
