Your style reminds me of a cross of Jhonen Vasquez and Jamie Hewlett, which was kinda what I was going for, sorta?

I like it very much so. If you do think of redesigning the background please at least save the shape of the ceiling and windows. Just in this one image alone it gives a very nice flow through the pick from the roof to her posture and hair and even the arm of the chair. Actually, considering that you have had to do so much dorm backgrounds lately this cottage must be a nice change of pace.
