Description After countless centuries of scavenging in the wilderness and raiding minor settlements, the Kanid people have finally advanced their 'civilization' to a higher level of organization. The innumerable clans and packs have banded together, preparing themselves for the first war in their race's history. The desert wastelands shake beneath the charging paws of the Kanid Hordes, and the world descends into terror as the Age of Destruction begins.

Mauler: The Latran/Jackal caste make up the standard infantry ranks in the Hordes. They have a terrifyingly efficient healing factor, allowing them to shrug of most injuries with ease. Occasionally, Maulers attack from a distance by throwing rocks and shrapnel at their foes. Kanids can throw with great power, and in large groups their hurled attacks can be quite destructive. More often, they wield crude melee weapons (usually a pair of jagged metal bludgeons), and attack with an unintelligent 'tactic' of charging straight into the enemy's line of fire until they reach melee range. Many have laughed at this ridiculously brazen strategy, only to stare in horror as waves of Maulers surge past their machine guns and hack their front-line troops into pieces.

Scalper: Vulpine warriors who command packs of kanids (a 'pack' usually equals 1 Vulpine and 8 Jackals) or act as independent scouts/infiltrators are commonly known as 'scalpers' to their enemies. This is largely due to their keen predatory intelligence and significant skill with sharpened blades. Their dexterity and eyesight is superior to the Jackals', and they can fight at range with throwing knives, axes, and spears with surprising accuracy. While the Maulers are charging the front with unrestrained savagery, the Scalpers creep along the surrounding cliffs and walls, hurling their spears or leaping onto unsuspecting soldiers and slicing them apart with their knives. Scalpers are fiercely competitive and adorn themselves with the bones, pelts, and scalps of their slain enemies.

Blazer While brazenly reckless in nearly all their actions, the kanids do have two primal fears: technology and fire. A significant proportion of the Vulpine Caste, however, are apparently immune to these and all other fears - due to a twisted blend of maniacal insanity that pervades their behavior. They are known as blazers, and their near-suicidal aggression makes them an especially feared kanid strain. Their appearance is bold and shocking: their crest is cropped into a narrow topknot, and their face and arms are striped with orange clay and black ash-paste. They can fight well with bladed tools and weapons salvaged from raided settlements, but their most powerful and frightening trademarks are the stolen cans of fuel they carry on their backs. The flaming spouts of these containers are used to ignite crudely-fashioned petrol-bombs which can be hurled great distances. The blazers show no fear of death, and will charge directly into melee combat in full fire-gear. All it takes is one terrified defender to strike a blow to the crazed kanid, and the ensuing fireball will destroy anyone and anything nearby.

---

More savage warrior beasts! By the way, I changed the Felinian Warrior names so they aren't in conflict [link] Bruiser and Prowler fit the Felinians better anyway, and the Kanids were born to be Maulers and Hunters.

Thanks! I really like the Kanids - one the one side, they've got an interesting social structure and background, but on the other they're just sick, crazy savages ready to tear anything to pieces!!

Yeah, created them all for my story about a planet without time, where animals hyper-evolve into "semi-civilized" societies. XD

I did another piece about the Kanids here [link] but there are other races too.

Hmmm... a domestic Kanid, huh?

Not a bad idea. They start out as adorable little puppies, then turn into 8-foot tall monsters that can carry heavy stuff for you or bash in the skulls of your enemies!

Sounds like KD [link]

Shes A bit bigger then 8 feet.. But thats how she rolls, on Drana shit just dosent grow without some sort of spikes or poision.
You might like the concept of Drana actually.
The planet is composed of wasted matertials with larger then life animalistic beasts, some look like anthros, some look like beasts (inhabited by other artists as well) cities, wastelands, oceans. And the best part. No air.
Helium

Suck it humans.

Hmmm... this sounds interesting. I'm in an OCT right now that keeps me busy, but I like the idea. I might have to bring out a mutant-cyborg version of Rodius Felham to fight on Drana some day!

(he's a gigantic badass PIG with a huge sword and a massive Gatling cannon - you don't wanna mess with that motherfucker!)

Pyromaniac jackals armed with fuel drums? That's almost too cool for words.

As always, I like the rich backstory. I would have personally assumed a canine race would create a more recognisably human society than a feline one, as they're more social animals and have adopted more of our traits, but I may be wrong where your world is concerned! I imagine their language would place more emphasis on gestures and expressions than complex sounds.

The primitive cultural artefacts you've given these guys serves as an excellent contrast to the wealth and sophistication of Gorhogg and Felinian society - you've done a great job of coming up with costumes, technology and tactics that fit your races perfectly!

Thank you kindly! I'm extremely pleased to hear how much you like this concept. It's interesting that you bring up canines being more suited to cooperative society than felines, as I originally had the exact same idea. However, I have since learned that canines are 'social' in a completely different way than chimpanzees or lions. Their role in the pack structure is largely determined by biology, and is strictly reinforced by hormones and instinct (so unless a senior pack member dies, there's very little independent action or 'social mobility').

Primates and felines, however, can live in social groups and on their own very well, and have a far less rigid hierarchy system with little emphasis on heredity and more on personal performance (with lions having a very survival-of-the-fittest society - hence the Soviet inspiration ). That's essentially how I realized the Kanids would have a very different kind of society, more akin to a caste-based oligarchy with built-in biological determination.

Again, I thank you for the praise and for understanding these concepts so vividly! If it's all conceptually legible, then I must be doing something right.
