i don't usually vent art, but when I do I do it with everything I have. Truth is, I'm incredibly depressed as of recent. I honestly feel like my life is going nowhere, I'm being passed by, and that I'm not worth anything. but this serves a note to future Danny looking back at his work in the event he gets in this spot again:
Even though you don't have a degree yet from an amazing school, you are not untalented
Even though you don't have the resources to do 3D animation, you can still animate.
Even though your friends and people you know are getting job offers, interviews, and opportunities to shine, it does not mean you won't get your chance someday.
People still respect you even if you don't draw much fan art anymore.
People still appreciate you even if it seems like you've lost most of your support
You're not worthless.
now only if i could listen to my own words...
I'll be fine, eventually.

It's been a while since I've last done a critique, so I'll do my best here.
This animation, how do I put it? The quality is excellent, your way of animating is really smooth, almost like if done by frames. (You did use some bone, right?)
Personally, I find this very intriguing. The ambiance is far beyond the ordinary, especially the leaf with rain drops. Your background is beautifully done, the colors coordinate very well with everything shown here.
Overall, this is an impacting animation well made within a good 4 days, I can see you're extremely dedicated to make this captivating, impacting, and motivational for viewers and animators alike.
(To be honest, this sparked something within me. After watching and reading your description, I felt really moved to start animations of my own. I've had intentions to animate something, even if it was a few seconds, it would be worth it. So if anyone needs some motivation I'd recommend this animation of yours. Hope this critique helped lift your spirits up a bit as well.)

may I ask how did you do the animation?
I sort of got really interested in your animations as I've been browsing through (not sure if I've made a comment before)
but the main thing is .....
did you just had to use Flash to add music and add the clickable button? right?
I assume that EVERYTHING about the animation is done with After Effects
even though I am only now looking into maybe getting After Effects for myself
though I have no idea where to begin

I guess I need tutorials ...

I sure hope you haven't been feeling like this anytime recently, because, wow. I can say a coup things about this right now.
No, man, no. You don't need a damn degree. I've met with all kinds of talentless bums who graduated from a career in animation, design, visuall effects, what have you and, ohman their art and overall disposition is awful. I'm feeing crushed, stomped right now as I look through your gallery because wow, I do not wish your talent, no, but how I wish I had your amazing will and determination to learn, to seek improvement and to prove yourself through your art. One don't learn none of that in school you know.Β
You seem to have quite a passion for what you do, or at least that's what I see from every piece I have seen so far.Β
I am dazzled because I don't know in what moment your art started transforming from what I saw on the improvement meme to all this amazing, epic, inspiring and jelausy-inducing work.
And here I am using a tiny netbook with a busted screen, no money for titulation, software or classes, trying to push through.
And here you are. Look at this incredible work. This is yours, and you didn't study in a school for it.

I don't have to study at school to do this. I don't have to study at a school to do what I love. I don't have to study at a school to tell my stories, or to show the contents of my mind to all of those interested in them. So you're studying 3D animation? Which school? I'm studying at Bournemouth University. I hope if you haven't started feeling better already that you will do soon. I can really respect the work you've done here, this is absolutely amazing and to do it in the face of all those negative feelings, I must say, I couldn't do it. it was 1 semester at a community college before i ran out of to ability to do it (they pulled the program because i was the only one in it) so I've been teaching myself everything as a result
