Description There was a demand for it so, I overhauled my Samus, re-rendered her using Mental Ray and did some editing.
Samus created using Autodesk MAYA rendered in Mental Ray
Post editing using Photoshop

Nice job man! I'm also doing some stuff in maya with mental ray, Havent got as far as you though, but I can see the work you put into this :3 how many pologons/faces? or is it nurbs? o.o

I prefer to use poly when it comes to mechanical and non organic bits. This is my higher poly model bust (she has no legs in this model) than previous, clocking in at around 45,638. The 'galaxy effect' is nParticles falling in reverse (think rain but going in the opposite direction)2 purple area lights and lens flare light effect in the second light.
I normally use Vray, but Mental Ray has better compatibility with MAYA's native shaders and lights.

I recently began with 3D modelling like 4 months ago or so, but I am happy to say that I understood that anyway, nice work, amazing pic^^

Yea for mechanical I find poly easier, sub-d and nurbs honestly, I only use curves for making constraints for hair or handles for rigs. Sub-d is great for creating landscapes and organic stuff. But I prefer Zbrush or Mudbox when working with 'fleshys' and organics. It's easier (I think) and creates a more natural looking surface.

Thanks, It's particle effects in MAYA with my redone model of Samus. Creates a 'constellation effect' when the colors are adjusted.
