Description
9x12 Bristol SmoothGraphite Pencils (2H-4B)
This piece took a lot longer than I thought it was going to, but I'm reasonably pleased with the result. Rather than rushing the piece within 8 straight hours of continuous work, I spent an hour or two here and there over the course of 6 days. The dancer is a girl who dances over at The Velvet Hookah out in Dallas, Texas.
Produced for ~DavidFolkie 's Dance art contest. Go head to his page and enter, he needs more people!

There's still things I nitpick over it, however considering its only a 9x12, there's so much detail that can be added with a pencil. Thank you : )

great work, Mel- excellent form, texture and anatomy. i imagine the variation here made for quite an interesting challenge, and one well met.

Thanks man. It did make it a bit of a challenge. I actually had a bit of dread getting near the bottom.

The skirt was put off until the last minute because I knew it was going to be insane. I'm just glad it didn't go awry : ) Thanks!

How long did the skirt take you? Did it take the majority of the overall time?

Actually, not really. The skirt in total, including the fuzz to the base, took about two hours. I just spaced it out to thirty minutes at a time over two days. In total, I'd have to say it all took about 12 hours.

At first her skin appeared too perfect, so in retrospect I am very happy with the moles and freckles.

great work you render skin and fabrics so well! and action photos are harder to draw too but you showed the movement well. The hair looks a bit strange but other than that it looks flawless to me.. btw what is she holding?

She's holding a round glass candle holder with a votive candle lit. The glow isn't all that prevalent as it keeps being moved.
