Description
Hello everyone, this is my first DA premium content item. The Legacy to Gen3 morph converter 1.1.
Edit: The Morph converter has been updated to version 1.1. Morph accuracy from V4 to Genesis3 has been improved. This update should also fix most of the teeth problems.
I advice to use the latest version. The content has also been updated with an improved clone.
Purpose of the morphing tool:
The morphing tool can convert morphs made for Daz Victoria 4 or Genesis 2 to Genesis3 exporting from and importing into Daz Studio.
It supports V4 poser morph export and Daz Studio import for Genesis 3. Genes 2 poser morph export is not supported.
What is included:
The package includes some content for Daz Studio 4.8 and higher. Six base morphs for the Victoria 4 morphs and the Genesis 2 morphs.
There are separate morphs for the head and the body as well now. So you can use e.g. a V4 head morph with Gen2 body morphs on your Genesis 3 female figure. Isn't that cool
And the morphing application itself. It has been created with Visual Studio 2010, so you will net .NET Framework 4 to run it. You will need Windows 7 or higher to run it. It will work for 32bit and 64bit windows versions.
It is easy to use and has been thoroughly beta tested.
How to use the morphing tool:
Part1: Morph export using V4 or Genesis2 in Daz Studio
1) Open Daz studio and load Victoria4/Genesis2
2) Select V4/Gen2 and in parameter tab, Zero figure
3) Make sure mesh smoothing ist set to off and resolution level is set to base
4) Dial in the V4/Gen2 morph(s)s you want to transfer to Gen3
5) In File menu, select export and use file type "obj"
6) Specify a filename and save the file to the input folder of this application
7) Chose convert to "DAZ Studio" and export obj with the settings you can see when you click the "display obj export settings" button
8) Repeat the steps 2 to 7 for as many morphs as you like
Part2: Morph conversion (that is what this tool is all about)
1) Depending on the source and the figure, select the appropriate option in the morphing tool
2) Use the "convert "obj" ..." button below this text to convert the morph(s) to Genesis3
Part3: Importing the morph back into Daz Studio and using it on Genesis3
1) Open Daz studio and load Genesis3
2) Select Gen3 and in parameter tab, Zero figure
3) Make sure mesh smoothing ist set to off and set the resolution level to base
4) In Edit menu, use: -> Figure -> Morph Loader pro
5) In the Morph loader Window set from: "Daz Studio", Load Morphs for: "Primary Selection (Vertex Only)", use button "display morph loader settings" for a screenshot
6) Use the "Choose Morph Files" Button and select the desired files in the output folder of the morpher tool
7) Hit Accept
8) You can find the morphs under "Morphs/Morph Loader" on your Gen3 figure
If you are using e.g. a V4 head morph on your Genesis 3 figure and want a look like of the V4 version, you need to use the "Victoria 4 head (base)" from the provided content set to 100%
in addition to your imported morph which you also need to set to 100%. And that's it. Same for body morphs. You can mix and match any way you like
How much does it cost and how can I get it?
The application and the content as a package costs 2400 DA points or 25 USD (paypal).
Option 1: You can either buy it through DA using the premium content link on the right. If you are using this option, you have to rename the application extension from .exe_ to .exe (sorry about that, but da does not allow .exe uploads)
Option 2: You can get it using paypal. Send me a note in DA providing your paypal data and I will send you a request for payment.
When I receive the payment, I will send you a link to download the application+content.
Additional information for beta testers:
There will be discount for better testers who provided feedback. The discount is only available through option 2. I hope this works for you.
If you are a beta tester, just add the info to the note you send me (just to make sure I don't forget the discount).
Important information concerning the content: You need to delete the old content from the beta to avoid problems.
To do that, delete the following folder inside your content library:

any idea how you install this program?
where does the application go etc ?
read these same questions below but never see a reply explaining where the app goes... I'm guessing the Content folder goes into the My DAZ 3D Library folder, so does
the application run from within Daz or outside it?
It is okay I worked it out the application runs alongside and uses it's own files

I thought I'd better make a new comment since my previous one's are starting to look confusing. It works great, as you can see . I think part of her facial difference is the eyes and maybe the way her eye brows work on skin tone I found. However, here are the settings I'm using for the export . Is there something I"m missing or am I on track about the skin tone?

I'm getting the following error when doing Part 3: Warning Geometry did not match, failed to create morph. I set the resolution level to base, while setting SubDivision Level and Render SubD Level to 0. Am I missing something? The program "Legacy to Gen3 morph converter 1.1" didn't report any errors, so I assume that isn't the issue.

You probably used the wrong file
6) Use the "Choose Morph Files" Button and select the desired files in the output folder of the morpher tool
You need the file from the "output" folder, you probably used the one from the "converted" folder.

That was where I went wrong, and here are the results . However, I think I missed something or will I always need to make minor adjustments? I did find this comments, but not sure what you mean, "If you are using e.g. a V4 head morph on your Genesis 3 figure and want a look like of the V4 version, you need to use the "Victoria 4 head (base)" from the provided content set to 100%". Was there something I need to add to my G3F that I'm not sure I have? Here's my export settings: . They're different from the one's in the base files folder. I did see a major change when I use 50% of Victoria 7 head.

Just so I'm sure, when you're talking about V4, you're not just talking about V4 herself, but any character needing V4, right? I have www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/?V… and would like to convert it to Genesis 3. Is that possible? I'm not concerned about the skin tones, since I use Iray when doing images.

How do I start the program? From inside DAZ? It does not start as a typical EXE file...

From the instructions above:
If you are using this option, you have to rename the application extension from .exe_ to .exe (sorry about that, but da does not allow .exe uploads)
It's a normal windows executable. After renaming the file, you can run it from any folder you have read/write access to.

Followed the directions. I am attempting to get this GF2 into a GF3 and eventually to a GF8. The program opened, after I started the "convert" process I got this:
Unhandeld exception has occurred in your application. If you continue the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.
Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection.
Parameter name: index.
Clicking Continue only runs on and on ...without a conclusion.
A check of the Task Manager shows 0% activity by the exe file.
Followed the list, but could not find mesh smoothing to set to off or on, nor the resolution level to set it to base.

Hi,
Schau Dir mal folgende Bilder an:
Basis G3:
1drv.ms/u/s!Av_60Gg5dEG7goICFK…
G3 + v4-Base 100%:
1drv.ms/u/s!Av_60Gg5dEG7goIDSL…
G3+ V4-Base 100% + konvertierter Morph 100%:

On top of my question below I’m now having another issue. When I auto fit a legacy clothing on a converted figure using your morph converter using Wear Them All, everything’s fine at first. But when I close and reopen DAZ, the converted figure now has really weird deformations on the legs. Why is this happening, any fix?

darkhound1 In reply to avs3d [2019-01-23 11:05:11 +0000 UTC]
If you've created a new morph, you should do 2 things (this is a general thing and not specific to morphs created with my tool):
- use the joint editor tool, select the figure and right click on it. Then do: edit-> adjust rigging to shape...
- save your morph as a morph asset: File-> Save as -> support assert -> morph asset(s)
You need to do the first to avoid wrong bendings etc. when you apply a pose
You need the second for the auto fit function to work properly (this will also allow you to use the morph on any gen 3 figure you load in the future)

Hi, if I want to convert morphs from a shaping preset is this possible? I have a V4 character which I created by loading morphs and then tweaking some of the body parts and all these saved as a .duf preset. Then what I do is follow your instructions, zero V4, base mesh resolution, then apply the shaping preset, then export it as a morph to be converted in your application. When I convert the morph using this method and apply it on G3F, the figure's eyes looks jagged and weird, I had to apply mesh smoothing on G3F to make it look normal. And even then, the converted figure isn't exactly the same as V4, there are some things which are a little off. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

darkhound1 In reply to avs3d [2019-01-23 10:58:11 +0000 UTC]
Creating exact copies is impossible, because the figures are not the same and have completely different vertex count and structure.
It doesn't matter for my tool how you did the morph. I can be anything from deformers to shaping presets ot whatever other method.
The tool cannot directly use a shaping preset though. You always have to morph V4 and then do all the steps from the description.

Hi darkhound1, I just got this app today along with the G3 to G8 one. Like others it seems, I can't find the mesh smoothing in DAZ. I followed your instructions carefully and get the following error when I convert V4 export to G3.
The number of vertices in your morph file 'your V4 file has to be here.obj' is 0. It should be: 68498.
When I open the morph file in photoshop it looks fine, I can import and apply the morph to G3 in DAZ with the V4 head and body sliders. However the morph is not replicated accurately. I'm putting that down to the error message I'm getting.
G3 to G8 works with some smaller differences when the morph is applied.
Can you help me fix the error.
Thanks

darkhound1 In reply to Bethlizard [2018-10-14 08:13:55 +0000 UTC]
If there is no mesh smoothing, and you really looked, it's probably not active and doesn't matter in that case. You could also have googled it. Here is a video that explains it:
Here is one: www.youtube.com/watch?v=QILf-Q…
If the file you exported has 0 vertices, nothing is converted, so it cannot work. It's not working bad or whatever, nothing is converted and it's not working at all. You don't even get a file to import.
What you say about photoshop I have no idea what you mean. This has nothing to do with photoshop. Also how something that has not been created at all can be used to morph "innacurately" is beyond me.
There is no "it works bad or a little". It's either working or it isn't.
You did something wrong on the export settings. That's the only explanation I have. Even though you say you followed the instructions carefully. Check the screenshots and the instructions again.
Several hundred people, maybe in the 1000 are using the morph converter. It is working when you do it right.

The problem is that the file does not work on Victoria 4.0... Too many polygons. Should be in the description. It works fine with 4.1+... I believe it may be because the polygon count matches poser, but I dont have poser. No worries, it should just be in the description is all.

The program works if you really follow the instructions... It's working for hundreds of people.
You probably used the file from the wrong folder and imported it into daz.
If you get the poly count problem during import into daz studio, make sure you use the file from the "output" folder and not from the input\converted folder.
If you get the poly count problem during the conversion, you either exported without using base resolution on the figure, or you exported something together with the figure and not just the figure (could be a ring, light source, plane, whatever).

Mcrocks In reply to darkhound1 [2018-08-11 11:34:34 +0000 UTC]
I understand what you are saying but the poly count that the program says my V4 is using is lower than what it says it should be. So I don’t think that there is an unseen extra element.
