He's actually a lot more sentimental than you give him credit for. Though, reeeeeeaally, get him something better than a vase next year.

This was a really good idea. I always wondered where he kept things like that; I imagine he can only fit so much in that hat of his. And good job making the glass cover look like glass, by the way XD

Of course Perry would keep the vase!

Naturally! It was a very sentimental gift. And as harden as Perry might try to be...He's too kind to hurt Doof (on accident) in THAT way!

Shadows are important! I felt it would help with setting the mood. An intimate and sentimental secret; something hidden away but precious. I think the shadow of Perry is what helps make the piece.

I am glad you like it, though. And i found what you said to be very sweet, thank you.

It would be nice to see the vase again in his hideout or something.

I more imagine it's in a corner somewhere filled with pens and coins and other things that don't have a proper place.
That kind of thing tends to happen with such pottery you don't really need but don't want to throw away or in a storage somewhere.

What I'd like to know is why Doof got him something like that in the first place.
Did he just really like it himself, or did he think Perry had expressed interest in pottery at some point?

It wasn't like it was a last-minute thing either, just something he bought the last moment because he couldn't think of anything else. He got that thing in the summer, he must have gone 'This will be perfect for Perry the Platypus!'.

I imagine it's more from the fact Doof is oblivious to social norms. He probably did what I do sometimes. If I have to get a gift for somebody, and have no idea what to get for them, I tend to just get them that I think is nice. If I'd like it, there is a small chance someone else might.

Sure, not a SMART plan...but it makes sense in a way. Plus...He doesn't know Perry's life outside of himself. For all he knows, Perry has his own little platypus spy pad that's all cool and swanky. And he wanted to give him something he deemed as high class and sophisticated like Perry is.

Yeah, it's definitely possible he liked it himself a lot, and so bought it. That kinda behaviour is typical for antisocial people or people with poor or undeveloped social skills (such as children), and while I think Doof isn't really lacking in such skills, he might just not think about it, and not use them.

Dr.D knows what Perry's house looks like, he saw it in "Hide and seek"
although that was after he had bought the vase. And how much attention he paid for the decor is uncertain, since he has the tendency not to notice things sometimes, although he'd probably be curious about that.

I prefer to think he went to a great trouble to find the perfect gift. He probably saw Perry looking at something like that, I dunno, they fought in a pottery shop and Perry caught a vase like that and Doof thought it meant he really liked it.

Or he thought it was classy.

I just like to think he thought about it a lot, but arrived into a wrong conclusion. And he looked so proud when he gave it to Perry.

Not when he bought the vase, which is what I was referring to. He knew nothing about that BEFORE then.

I will say, I laughed so hard from seeing how proud Doof looked at the gift. And equally from Perry's "Dawww, that's actually genuinely sweet of you.....but seriously, what the heck am i going to do with a vase?" expression.

I don't remember Doof actually giving it to him. I just remember Monogram mentioning it to Perry.

"Not when he bought the vase, which is what I was referring to. He knew nothing about that BEFORE then. "
But he gave the vase to Perry after that, so either he didn't feel like changing the gift or seeing Perry's house didn't make him change his mind.

I can't really think of any instances of Doof speculating about Perry's life outside him and work. Can you? I suppose he thinks Perry lives in a house like a human would, since obviously he has trouble grasping the idea that Perry could pretend to be a mindless animal.

"I will say, I laughed so hard from seeing how proud Doof looked at the gift. And equally from Perry's "Dawww, that's actually genuinely sweet of you.....but seriously, what the heck am i going to do with a vase?" expression. "
And I found it funny because I've been in that position. I have several vases I've gotten from people for some reason.
And I've given several myself. Pottery is a hobby of mine, and something like Christmas is a nice excuse to make bowls and vases that you don't have to keep yourself.
