This time on custom brushes in SAI! <3 I love custom brushes. It was getting so long that I tourniquet'd my custom brush settings off of it >.> But if anyone sees a brush exampled up there that you'd like, just ask and I'll copy the stats for you ENGLISH SAI: [link]

NOTE: This deviation is a little outdated. You can now download "DarlingMionette's SAI Resources" at the bottom of the Custom Brush Supplement.
It is a .zip file of all my brush settings, textures, blank do-it-yourself resources, instructions for creating custom content, and associated start-sai.exe file that lets you register these files to your SAI without editing the .conf files manually :3 All in one convenient place. All of my current brush settings have been updated to match the files in the .zip file, and contain image examples for each. Be sure to read the README's! They downloaded the file and followed the instructions >.> *points to large download button on the right hand side of the screen* Everything needed to create the brushes is included, or is default with SAI when you buy/install it.

Could be a false positive, (I've never had a problem with the site myself, and I haven't gotten any other complaints from people viewing it) but of course it's up to you to whether or not you wish to risk it.

Unfortunately, most custom brushes require a tablet because of the pressure sensitivity.... with a lot of time, patience, and practice, someone can learn to manipulate the brushes manually to virtually work the same with a mouse... but it requires 10x more knowledge effort than just using the pressure sensitivity. Unfortunately, most good paint programs are just built that way.

mine didn't either sot of, but it did in fact have it, was just hidden. Don't know why, but when i right clicked on an empty brush slot it was there and i could put it up with the others.ย Hope yours is as easy to find.ย

Thank you for this very informative tutorial. I downloaded a bunch of custom brushes for SAI but was just getting confused by how the brushes behaved. I started to play around with the actual brush settings instead and got far better results. This tutorial clearly states which options do what. Thank you again.

I've noticed that many people (when they draw or write on SAI) that the lines are clear and with me, it's so...pixelly (However you call it, not clear lines at least). And no, I don't use my mouse, I have a bamboo

How anput changing the resoluion of the canvas? 72 pixels/inch is the default and that is really low

I have a newer version of SAI, which I bought (yes, bought) back in July of last year. There is no "Start Sai" button that looks like a green version of the YouTube logo on my Windows 7 Acer laptop.

start sai doesn't come with sai. also, it's not needed to install the newer version of brushes.

I can't say for certain because I don't have the trial version, but from what I've heard from commenters, the trial doesn't save brushes for at least a lot of people, or the new settings just won't show in the menu - most likely because the trial version has some permission locks on the files that keeps people from editing them. I'd certainly recommend buying the program - it's not too expensive and it's a really great little art program.

Ok I have a question... So say that you wanna fill out an application.... and you have to make an OC.... and you need to draw on the application sheet. How do I get the Application in sai so I can draw on it??

then go to the menu in sai and hit "open" and pick the file from a list (I assume it's an image file) if it's a .doc or .pdf you may have to draw the OC seperately and import it into the document though.

you need to have the official SAI off the website (link down there in the description), and then you download the english sai translation pack and put that into it.. then your SAI is in english ^^

reinstall your sai. it's not that you're doing anything wrong (this is a common problem) but sai is pretty unstable and has a habit of letting it's .dll's go corrupt.. which is what helps to save your settings. if you reinstall it'll replace the corrupt .dll's and it'll work just fine
