Great picture of Destro! Very sinister looking. Even monstrous. Thanks to your subdued colours and his glowing eyes, he could even be a supernatural killer.
I haven't seen the G.I. Joe film at the time of writing this but from what I have heard, I don't know if I would enjoy it. My last experiences with the franchise was when I was a kid. I collected the toys and read the comics. In the UK it wasn't called G.I. Joe. Instead it was called Action Force and the unit had operatives from all around the world. Action Force was a name that was used twice as the original setting and toys had multiple branches and organisations, all with different names. The bad guys were called Red Shadow and looked like German soldiers from WWII but in red and with face plates.
When they rebooted it, they made the good guys into one organisation and gave them individual personalites and styles. They then brought in Cobra.
I always preferred Cobra myself as I thought they looked a lot cooler than Action Force/G.I. Joe. The soldiers looked great, such as the Vipers, Crimson Guard and the Snow Serpents. They had great looking characters too like Storm Shadow and Firefly. I loved the whole backstory between Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes (my favourite character from the AF/Joe side), how they were in Vietnam together, how they learned martial arts together and how Storm Shadow, although working for Cobra, always had his own agenda and was rising up the ranks to uncover the Cobra agent that killed his uncle.
Someone told me that Storm Shadow in the recent movie is nothing like his original character and doesn't even wear a mask. For me that already blows chunks.
But I digress. As I said, this picture of Destro looks great. Once again it shows how someone can give a mask or helmet they wear a personality all of its own. Something of which often transcends the person actually behind it.

Yeah, the movie was not up to par. I wasn't happy with the choice of any of the characters really. Without giving away spoilers to others who might read, the guy who plays Duke never gives a good impression that he is even capable of emotion. Scenes where he should be shouting pissed, he's just kind of half assed about. Stormshadow does wear the mask in a couple of scenes, but mostly no, and Snake Eyes had a weird mask. I was bummed out, although the girls were pretty hot.
About the look, the bad guys usually do have the cooler look to them. It must be one of the rewards for choosing evil. All the coolest stuff now because you're going to pay for it later in a big way

but you only have one set of lips. *blinks* did you go and get a sex change surgery behind my back or some'm grrr little miss hell. anyways i'm back back for about 3ish months providing i do have to go find, succeed in getting, and work at, a job. school starts again august 8. if i don't get anything done in life my mother will be pissed. since marriage isn't an option, and working i don't want to be an option, doing my story stuff has suddenly become a very big bright colorful great option, now if i can just sit down and work on the damned thing.

Whatever makes you happy, man. If it were me, I'd make the inside of his collar red, and give him green eyes, but I'm a "purist" like that. Reguardless of his eye and clothing colors, he still looks alot more like Destro than Dr. Who does...

Oh I know. I remember when the movie was announced I searched to check key characters, and Destro was the second one I checked. I thought "what the hell? He doesn't fit the Destro look" I wish these movies made from comics or video games would take themselves seriously sometimes. But not too serious

Destro's a hard call, since he's supposed to be Scottish, but Arthur Burghart was African American. If it'd been me, I probably would've gone with someone like Michael Clark Duncan.
I actually kind of liked the kid from 3rd Rock was playing Cobra Commander, just because he does have kind of a high pitched screachy voice sometimes. But then they gave us that bizarre glass mask. What the Hell, man? I would've liked to have seen the chrome faceplate. Or even the hood (I have heard of real world terrorists wearing hoods when they make videos to send to authorities). But the glass? And we see his face?
Many layers of fail.

Yeah, that mask of the Commanders was ridiculous. I always loved the simplicity of the faceplate, that new one was too detailed and revealing.
But agreed, the Baroness was hot. I just hated how it was all mind control for her and then she flips to good.

Thank you. I agree, I remember when I was a kid I used to draw all these characters in the cartoon fashion. Now I have the tools to make them look the way I imagined they would look in reality. Makes it fun and takes me back, I need to do Skeletor someday.
