Les Deux Fantomes? Wha?Well, for those of you who don't comprehend anything written in french, the title means "The Two Phantoms"... It sounds much cooler in french, though... am I right?
The idea for this comic series came up several months ago, and after months of procrastinating, I've finally come up with a "preview" for the comic that shall be posted only on deviantART. The idea is this: what would happen if Erik from the novel met Erik from ALW's 2004 movie? Would they become good friends, or the worst of enemies? Would they help each other to overcome their hardships... or would utter dissaster ensue? Well... we can almost be certain that the last one there would occur...
But I digress...Ok, so here's the deal.
I'm too busy to upload weekly, obviously. My friend and I who are writing the script haven't even gotten started on the second page! But the idea is there; and I hope that you all will enjoy it in the future. It's going to be lots of fun, let me tell you...
So let me all know what you think! If I get enough positive feedback, I can convince my friend to work faster on the script.

Sounds like an interesting concept.
I've read a number of phics which dealt with multiple phantoms, but only for humor. I'd LOVE to see how you'll treat this in a more serious manner.

Thank you! yes, this isn't going to be fluff. Although I am quite certain it will contain mountain-loads of humor, it's story-line may be more complex than that.

"Fluff" on ffn means some sort of romantic scene. Am I to take it that, by "fluff," you actually mean that there will be a relatively serious plot as opposed to something merely light-hearted? (Although if the respective Eriks can win their Christines, and you include a bit of fanfic style "fluff," you won't hear ME complaining.
Oh dear, I just had this thought - the two Eriks SWAPPING Christines? (Kinda like wife-swapping. [evil grin])
But hey, at least it wouldn't be fluff between the two Eriks.

yes. I meant there won't be any shallow phangirl adjustments to the heart of the original plot. (example: Erik from the 2004 movie will NOT begin to fall in love with Meg; Erik from the novel will NOT fall in love with mr. Erik from the movie. gross!!) yah. this isn't another sappy fanfic. This is going to be approached in a creative, yet sensitive manner.

If they DID do a bit of Christine-swapping, blonde Chris might find Gerik attractive, but what's up with that voice? (Mind you, I LOVE the 2004 movie and even think Gerry did a fine job of singing, but he's no Michael Crawford.
As for the Raouls? Movie Raoul may be a "slave of fashion" but geez, his hair is SO 18th century! At least Book Raoul is smart enough to use FIREARMS instead of cutlery.

I totally agree with you! Both Phantoms definately have their pros and cons... but they're both my loves the same. he he.
I actually sketched down a few ideas based on your idea! It was super fun... Emmy-Christine began to flirt with Lerik at first... Lerik got a bit uncomfortable... meanwhile Gerik began to flirt with Leroux-Christine and she responded in a wary manner. Gerik is baffled why she would ever be wary of a man that is good friends with her own Erik...?
Sorry. I hope that made some sort of sense. But I love your other ideas! Hopefully some of them will be able to make it through the sift into the actual comic.

If you DO use any of those ideas I'll be honored, but really, they're supposed to be quite silly - not really serious at all.
When the recent movie came out and we see young Raoul for the first time, my first thought was "gee, why is his hair so long? Haven't any of these movie guys seen photos of fellows from the 1870's? With their short hair, parted in the middle and slicked down?" (Usually with mustaches, too.)
And the fight scene at the graveyard? THAT'S why I made the comment about Book Raoul being smart enough to use a gun. They were plentiful back in those days. Why in the WORLD would anyone fight with a big, bulky sword when they could just whip out a gun and fire at someone from a safe distance?
If you have the DVD, check out the start of the sword fight. When Gerry (or stuntman) jumps down from the roof of the Daaé mausoleum, his cloak wraps around either his arm or head (I don't remember which) and Patrick just kind of stands there while the Phantom gets untangled then sheds the cloak. THEN the action starts. Man, if he had been the REAL Raoul (even with a stupid sword), Erik would have been skewered before the cloak even left his shoulders.
I can't wait for the comparisons of the two Madame Girys. A fat box-keeper and a trim ballet mistress, WITH all her teeth. And who the heck is the "daroga?" (Gerik)

oh yessss. I can see this will be funner than I expected! Comparing the two will be just... PRICELESS.
Yah I was bugged by his hair the instant the movie began. I was like... "what? he looks as ridiculous as anakin skywalker..." lol
And DUDE! I remember that too! I think (supposedly) Raoul's a bit caught off guard at that point... -cough-lame-cough- I always thought the sword fight scene was a bit out of place as well... isn't it a bit old-fashioned to fight with swords in those times? By Jove! I mean... it's the 1870's for Goodness' sake! Not the swash-buckling pirate years!! he he.
Actually... I was debating over whether Daroga should take a liking to Mme. Giry from the movie... it would get interesting.

I mentioned to BldngHrtCnsrvtv that I was a bit put off by Erik's appearance in the movie - not his hotness (imitates Homer Simpson drool), but the slicked-back, widow-peaked black hair and stiff-collared cape/cloak. Why do "monster" movie bad guys always look like Dracula?!! (Legosi, not Langella. 
And I know that Schumacher didn't want Erik's deformity to be horrific, but geez, Joel, that's the WHOLE POINT! When we finally got to see his face, my thought was "gee, /I/ could live with that. For the rest of his hotness? Oh yeah!" (drooling again.)
So, did you ever see this?: (And no, I'm not suggesting you do something like this, just thought you'd find it amusing.)

i know exactly what you mean... but erik was originally a sort of specter-supernatural-ghostly looking fellow, wasn't he?
I know. if only it were a little grosser. like... the stage play. maybe some white hair, and red lips... y'know. it would've been a tad more convincing. but a few bumps and indentations here and there? It convinced me when i only knew the movie version... but once i did some exploring, i began to realize how they could've done better.
