Description Halloween Countdown #9

What would a parade of villains be without those dastardly Pottsylvanian spies Boris Badenov and Natasha Fatalle?

For the record, I know that the Hammer & Sickle is a Russian symbol and that Boris and Natasha are not Russian, but from the fictional country of Pottsylvania. However, I wanted this picture to have that iconic black, white, and red color scheme of an early '60s Soviet propaganda poster and that symbol is generally associated with the Soviet movement. Plus I couldn't remember what the Pottsylvania flag looked like and I couldn't find a blasted picture of it anywhere on the internet! As Boris would say, "Raskolnikoff!" Raskolnikoff, indeed!

Boris and Natasha are ŠJ. Ward

Pottsylvania doesn't look communist

Of course Pottsylvania was a parody of the USSR. Every American kid knew it. In fact, Rocky and Bullwinkle shows were banned there as propaganda, dollink!

Pottsylvania is essentially a parody of the Soviet Union, isn't it?

Boris and Natasha are Russians in my opinion, and would'nt if Boris and Natasha are not only rivals to Rocky and Bullwinkle ,but Underdog and Polly Purebred, I think Underdog and Polly are best friends of Rocky and Bullwinkle, since the foursome lived in Frostbite Fall, Minnesota, near Mineapolis-St. Paul, and Fearless Leader is none other than Nitika Kruschev., Rocky ,Bullwinkle, Underdog and Polly worked for JFK.

This is too sweet! I love these too with a passion. Long live Boris and Natasha! You can't beat the classic's man!

Wow! Seeing this just warms my heart. I love those two. Especially Natasha. She's femme fatale incarnate. Yays, she's nothing but trouble - not some chick to get rescued.

Boris and Natasha (as well as Bullwinkle and Rocky) shall never truly be forgotten! And maybe if we're lucky, television networks will begin to air their show again some day!

I sure hope so. You shouldn't have to pay extra money for Boomerang just to watch old cartoons. And from what I hear, some newer old ones like Dexter's Lab have snuck their way onto that channel, too. :/

I grew UP on the classics, dangit!! And I miss Pirates of Dark Water, SWAT Kats... oops, just lost it for a minute there.

It doesn't surprise me. There seems to be a growing hatred for some of the older material these days. My assumption is because most older cartoons are "politically incorrect," which I think is a load of bupkiss considering how offensive I find a lot of modern-day television programs. Apparently it's okay to be hurtful and offensive as long as you're sticking to a popular form of prejudice as opposed to an outdated one.

If it wasn't for the antics of Boris and Natasha, I wouldn't have learned the first rule of writing for animation: there is nobody stupider than the hero of a TV cartoon show ("That voice...where have I heard that voice?").

I've always figured that the rule was that there's nobody dumber than a cartoon character. Period! *laughs* Actually, the rule that I've learned more than anything from the Jay Ward staff was their joke motto: "If you can't be funny, be confusing!"

I think my favorite part has to be the inscription on the bomb. Those Pottsylvanians are so kind to us.

And I didn't even mind the Russian symbol. Yeah, they're from Pottsylvania but you know what country they're really from XD

Yeah, I figured it worked since Pottsylvania was meant to be a spoof of Russia. My particular favorite is that the bomb has the XOXOX "hugs and kisses" symbol on it!

A wonderful choice for number 9, might I say. Just a shame you had to resort to just a Russian symbol, instead of one spoofing it.

EEEE~! *heart* That makes me happy.

Actually, a friend of mine had a fish he called 'Fearless Leader'. But that's random. Cool, but random.

Also, I love Natasha's earring. Hee. Grarg this is just a lot of awesome. <3~!
