Derek and Rob, in the shot that was used by RAWK The Inland Northwest for the Rumble at the Rawk 2006 CD cover. i will be submitting the CD version very soon, so that you can see the post editing that was done once the photo was out of my hands. hope you all like this. many long hours went into making it what you see now.=daveainley

I took quite a few photos, actually. Also, I made sure my angle allowed a lot of light to be reflected to help lighten the whole reflection. A lot of time went into this piece.

well there's not much photomanip done here. i took this shot. all i did was super-impose the head over one that was already there, just more blurry. my lens wouldn't close down that much to accommodate for such extreme DOF. anyway, that and the age to the image was the only "manipulation". but this is exactly how i shot this photo. the blood is grenadine (flavored syrup). it was photographed there, not added in. and as far as the contrast from the wedding photo is concerned, while urban portraiture is my forte', 3 favorite photos requires work from each area, giving as full a representation of me as possible. weddings aren't "my thing", but i shoot them for money, so its all part of the same job description, chica. anyway, thanks for looking!

is the structure of the photo manipulated at all? like did you superimpose the face, or just mess with the colors, etc. this is awsome. very cool looking! like fight club style...

wow, you're the very FIRST person who's questioned that. the photo was originally constructed like this, but yes, i did. i just didn't have that broad of a depth of field to keep rob's head in focus AT ALL, so i had to shoot some while focused on his head, and some while focused on derek. once i had the photos i wanted at the appropriate dof, i combined them. rob's head IS superimposed on this photo. and yes, i adjusted the colors quite a bit as well. i'm glad you picked up the fight club vibe i was going for.

oh i get it. so you took two photos of the same shot with a different focus, and then combined them. that makes sense. thanks for recognizing the avatar, it's one of my fav photos. i've always been fascinated by those hippie VW's. a thing of the past, that's cool that you have one.

Anyways. Perhaps not my kind of thing, but you've definitely done a good job. It has a raw and powerful atmosphere, which the grain accentuates. I like the way the reflection is almost the strongest part of the composition. Fury.

someone above already mentioned fight club, but yeah...except for the fact that the guy's wearing shoes, this deffff reminded me of fight club (i've never seen the movie but i've read the book)

well i actually shoot film. i have a 35mm minolta that does all my dirty work for me. thank you SOOO much for the compliment about this piece. i was pretty pissed that nobody said anything about a piece that i've been more proud of than anything else to this point, but oh well. what do you do? i guess i just sunk myself by posting this at like 11:30 at night one evening. i should've known better. maybe i'll cheat and repost it under a different name later. whatever. anyway, tell your friends.

I'm not really a great photographer :-/ I'm taking a "photo" class in school but I'm not very serious about it, I have a crappy-licious $20 camera and we shoot+print 35mm film in black and white but the class isn't even an hour long, so you can imagine how much we get done. Most people take it just to fill an art credit, anyway. I doodle and write, mostly.
Anyway, keep on keeping on!

thanks a lot, buddy. your school needs to get on the block schedule. that was so nice when i was in high school. my school was on this schedule where we had half of our classes every day, twice as long, and they alternated from day to day. you get a lot more accomplished that way.
