Description
Went with a walk cycle to test the Korra rig , I should really make an effort to jazz my cycles up and add more mood to them. For testing rigs simple 24 frame walks are fine but they’re not going to impress many people.
I need to do some more homework is what I’m saying. Things I should have been doing back when I was actually in animation school.

I just graduated out of 2D/3D animation myself! What program are you using here?

Been out of it myself for about two years now. I hope you enjoyed your program!
By and large I use Autodesk Maya 2013 with a lot of zBrush thrown in for refining models. Photoshop for textures naturally.

Hah, I see I'm getting a bit out of date then. Should see what I can do to remedy that.
I hear you on that. My mentors were great and who can't love the subject matter but there's just so much to learn, retain and it's different for everyone. I came out of it with a lot of confidence but in hindsight I wasn't the greatest student.
Thanks, I'm very much glad that I've gotten back into rigging and actual animation.

Hardly out of date though I have 2015 I've scarecly used it. But maybe because I never had the confidence to use it by myself, I loved my teachers all the same, they were great but again without the time required to learn everything properly I never felt I could actually go into the industry with what little knowledge I have :/ I can't get my animation to work on maya and I don't know why
Also power to you for rigging, I never liked it nor could i get the hang of it haha!

Heh, you never know what nifty features they could have added though. Scary features. lol
Confidence is difficult to build, especially when you just feel like there wasn't enough time in class to get you feeling comfortable enough to go out and try to improve on your own. Some say to fake it and keep going until you're not faking it anymore but without some kind of guiding presence that can backfire and hurt your overall work. Sometimes you gotta go back to basics to figure out what's hurting ya. I imagine it's different for everyone though.
The jump from 2D to 3D can be weird for a lot of people. On one hand having skill in the first can definitely be an asset to the second when you add in the fact you have to work with what's usually a completely alien software and are limited by character rigs it can feel complicated as well. Not to mention sometimes it feels like you're animating with numbers more so than with characters and art.
Rigging is a pain in the butt and the least satisfying part of 3D animation for me as an artist. But boy is it satisfying when you get to a point that you (kinda) know
what you're doing.
