Mesh refers to 3D Model. So the entire starbase model or the Enterprise model are "meshes".
I believe the term came about due to the fact that 3D models without textures look like a web of objects intertwined. A bit like a skyscraper's steel framework during build.

I dont know the first thing about Meshing... and mashing things, and doing mesh, But it It were easy, they would be everywhere, So, It makes me think that you are super talented...

Yupp, I made the station model (not the Enteprise), and composided it with the background and the Enterprise in Photoshop.

its probably an optical illusion but the Big-E's nacelles appear to be warped.
