DBZ and all its characters belong to Toei Animation, Funimation, and Akira Toriyama (Who is god of this world).I don't have a huge problem when shows want to put in their writer's view of the world or do any of that other stuff, but don't interrupt the action for it. DBZ touched on Vegeta and Piccalo's pasts once or twice when their was a significant break in the action, that's it.
LEARN FROM THEM, NARUTO, BLEACH, ALL THE YU-GI-OH SERIES, INUYASHA, AND PROBABLY EVERY OTHER ANIME EVER!

Dragon Ball is great show in terms of action. Maybe the best. But, if It comes to plot and drama, it's far below averege. Toriyama (and his fans) wanted for DB to be in that way, so it is like this. And that's okay. It's still one of the bests anime I ever watched (and manga I ever read).
Lack od drama and plot is, in my modest opinion, just a disadvantage. I do not think that other animes should copy that trait.
I don't think that "philosophies" and "other bullshits" are no needed. Just because people don't want to think and do not understand what mangaka is trying to tell doesn't make motives in other series a bullshit. Using "philosophy" word when refering to anime and manga is just mistake. Just because it requies some thinking, it doesn't mean that this is philosophy.
And, one last think. No anime and manga is perfect. Dragon Ball too (more noticeably after Freeza saga).

Relax. DBZ was made in the 80's and influenced many writers to make manga. If it weren't for DBZ we wouldn't have so many other great manga today. Also DBZ put Anime on the map. It's because of DBZ that Anime got famous in the rest of the world in the first place.

Well, Vegeta had quite the tormented past, and Bulma and Yamcha had a love HEXAGON going on, but this is still awesome. ^U^

Vegetta did, but how much was it really talked about.
Also, Yamcha's angst over Vegetta x Bulma is confined to about two minutes in one episode.

Vegeta's past was brought up several times. Especially during the Buu saga when Babidi took control over him and then he finally admitted that Goku was better..
As for Yamcha and Bulma, I wasn't talking about just the triangle involving Vegeta, I meant over all. Bulma was always complaining over Yamcha not being faithful, dating other girls, flirting with Maron; and especially back in DB when they were both unfaithful to eachother.
But mainly, yes, DBZ does focus on the fighting and action. But it DOES have it's mild drama.

1. love triangles (Yamcha, Bulma, Vegeta)
2. Philosophy (read it closer than you have, Akria Toriyama majored in it and uses it often in the story)
3. dragon ball was full of teen drama
4. the early villains and some of the newer ones had a deep tormented past that was analysed

1. Yamcha's angst over it is confined to about two minutes in one episode. After that, nothing is said by him about the matter.
That's not making a love triangle, that was addressing character continuity.
2. The biggest talks they have is people giving Goku one or two lines that he has to kill and not spare people. To which Goku responds with one or two lines.
These instances are also few and far between.
3. Where was there teen drama (and don't say that Saiya-man BS. That has less to do with DB that GT).
4. The early villains didn't show tormented pasts. They explained in back story. No, I'm not splitting hairs. It was just an explanation of where they came from:
Raditz
The Androids
Cell
Buu
All of those had backstories that just explained their origins.

Sorry if I came off being rude I tend to end up coming to dbz pics from some sites I go to and I never know tell I hit the link. I've also dealt with in the past alot of times on sites fanboys and fangirls of such and such anime without them being reasonable,I will admit I'm a big fan of Gurren Lagann. But a big problem with dbz to little REAL fighting,still has unreleasable large fan base along with franchise merchandise[milking the cash cow till its dry] and it along with Bleach has ended up making anime labeled by alot of closeminded people as being'' mindless violence,without morals plot or anything'' views. I'm a anime fan and of the DBZ anime I only like the dbz movies and the chunk of the anime future trunks is in. I especially like the dbz movie history of trunks.
But thats just talking of the true series but the abridged series I'm addicted to.

I'm 17[will be 18 in August] and my only real moments of liking it was Future Trunks, SS2 teen Gohan and Majin Vegeta in the series as I hated the rest of anime series.[Note I exclude movies in series talk as they normally aren't directly connected to the series there tied to] Believe me I find it ironic that I prefer dbz over dbz kai. When I DON'T like dbz other then the few things as stated before. I guess it has to do with some voice actors[especially that damn freiza woman voice hate it] and even if the series is staying canon scripted I can't help but hate the new ''I am speech'' It just doesn't sound right for lack of better term,for a western viewing group to hear a name[like how I've read] with ''son'' *insert name here* before the normal name.
What I've read on the Japanese and Chinese culture is they tend to say ''son''then the normal name as its used ether as respect,meaning there son or just has a honorable thing. I would go into detail just to lazy to make a giant wall text and/or run out of characters if DA has a character limit per post.
Anyway point is new ''I AM'' speech sucks from factor A)western viewers aren't used to the ''son''way of saying a name,Factor B)it lacked a good delivering the right feel for a revenge/honoring race/good guy/speech to a destroyer of races and planets.
Another thing my theory on dub voice actors putting less and less effort into putting emotion and really getting into the role,in other words doing there very best as if it was a movie effort. You hardly hear dub VA'S putting emotion into there acting anymore. as if there to lazy to even see the point in a acting carrier. Seeing as VA'S tend to get better acting jobs if they did there best .
I'm a pure anime watcher,even though I will by the manga to support the maker. I never read the things just laying around unopened in a box somewhere.Its do to the fact I see no piont in watching something if you know really soon it would be turned into a watchable form,books thats a different story as its true reading material,Comic books again a diffent story as they aren't that likely to turn into a ep any time soon if ever.
Anyway Mangas normally=anime within afew years or so. Basically I got a mini collection of misalliances manga series not really that many of any series just some of this and that.
also does of old Saturday promo [link] you won't believe this but people are bashing the now way dead programing time block that was Toonami on alot of old promo's on youtube
I used to watch Toonami myself till it turned to nothing and shortly after died,my fav thing of Toonami was a promo themed for each day of the week,or do you remember those?! I loved the Monday promo's as it reflected even most adults views on Mondays, the promo's on holidays was among the top 10 promo's on my list heres afew I liked [link]
That promo I kinda need to take that tip
I liked the hole promo's based on something that was like rerun eps promes and almost if not all the promo's was worth watching for a far chunk of them anyway. My all time favs are the speechs on morals on terms of the most seen promo's throughtout the weekdays. Its kinda funny on afew different promo's I remembered that there was slightly different, but the speech or something on the promo was to get your attention and stress the importance of doing your homework and other school projects before watching Toonami or other thing that might make you forget to.
The makers loved breaking the fourth wall on important topics in promo's. There ones talking about weapons,drugs and other things the weapon one was so ironic as Toonami had atleast some weapon in one ep they air when the promo came on for sure.
I hear rumors and such it was CN's new owner thinking kids would want live action,which I have a 0.o every time I just look on the net for there scheduled programs its barely any animation they need to change the name to Live action network
