Description
Final map for now. This one's for Yakima, Washington, home to the Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation.
After the Great War, Yakima proper fell into disrepair, but the Yakama Nation managed to survive and persist in the nearby wilderness. After several decades, the Yakama would re-emerge to find their former home, though spared from direct nuclear attack, overrun with raiders, scavengers, and other opportunists. Reconquering the Yakima Valley was arduous, but the tribe soon established itself as one of the Northwest Wasteland's most important players through it's exports of food, which caravans haul as far as Koover and Klamath. In the twenty-third century, Yakama remains one of the Northwest Wasteland's key settlements, as well as it's safest. But it won't be safe forever: between the rise of the Empire of the Great Khans in nearby Spoke, and the Circle of Steel's expeditions to Yakima from Seattle, it seems inevitable that the settlement will be caught in the crossfire one way or the other.
Fort Simcoe was originally reinhabited by the Yakama as a training camp, though it's now used as a provisional base by the Circle of Steel to oversee food disbursements back to Seattle. Many of the Yakama claim that the Circle's presence there is dangerous, but the tribe's leadership seems too divided or too hesitant to force a confrontation. Mxi'shpyati, meaning 'Green,' is the Yakama's main food reserve along the Yakima River. Aided by the Followers of the Apocalypse, Yakima proper has retained it's status as a key producer of food throughout the wasteland. The Great Scar is hallowed spiritual ground to the Yakama, who utilize it's irradiated shallows as a hunting-ground and burial site. Finally, Tsi-Laan, named after a Yakama legend meaning 'Deep Water', is the Yakama's guard against the encroaching Empire of the Great Khans. It's a heavily defended nest of walls, wires, and guard-posts, and serves as the main gateway into Yakama territory.
Hope you enjoy!
