Description
The M6 "Fargo" Gun Motor Carriage was a Dodge truck with a 37mm gun mounted in it's bed. Hence the title, "Technical-ly a Tank Destroyer." I think this is the only time I've seen one of these.Sainte-Mere-Eglise, France

For a second there, I thought you were calling it "a technical". That would have been interesting, because the Somali and other African guerrillas call their 4X4s mounting 50 caliber or 20mm guns just that.
Interesting early form of the above!

I was calling it a technical and in that usage- a technical is just a civilian vehicle that has weapons mounted to it. This is just a normal Dodge truck model that the military modified by adding a 37mm gun mount.

Interesting. I wonder where the term originated? Among the rebels? Somewhere else?

I'm not sure, I've never seen a definitive answer to that.

Well, here's what the "all-knowing" Wikipedia says!

I saw that but wasn't certain how accurate it was on when the term first came into use.

I suppose these terms sort of start somewhere and spread... who knows.

I wish, I can only take so much time off of work to fly up to the UK! I'd also loved to have done the airshow at Yeovilton.

I wish, unfortunately I'm leaving the continent so getting back this way may be difficult. OnΒ the other hand I look forward to seeing Japan's JGSDF Ordnance Museum with it's rare WWII Japanese tanks.

Never seen this before. At the start of the war a 37 mm towed behind a jeep was considered the ultimate anti-tank weapon.
