I absolutely love this! Trees are one of my favorite subjects and the knotwork is amazing!

Thank you! I used to do celtic knotwork almost obsessively. There are still some traditional knots that I can make from memory. I still love them. But where I'm from, there is a real danger of being pegged as a celtic knotwork artist. And so, I still dabble in them, and will incorporate knots into future paintings, just not exclusively.
Glad you like!

Very well done and I'm amazed at the intricacy of the "knots." Gold leaf is a difficult thing to work with and I'm always impressed at anyone who can use it successfully - even if they have more gold leaf on themselves afterwards.

Thanks! Yes, it was challenging, but fun.
The frames are homemade, and also gilded. Quite fun! So fun, in fact, that I may set up my own framing station.

The celtic knots are very convincing. did it take a lot of planning or did you do it off the cuff?
Beautiful color balance. nice crisp lines. I think this is spectacular. I am probably partial to it because it looks like something I would like doing. I am just trying to find a place to fit some boobs in.

Of course you are! Ha! Well, if the tree was a woman... I'm sure you'd think of something!
Yeah, I used to do celtic knot mandalas a long time ago. They were fun. They get pretty addictive and I was obssessed with making them for a while.
Actually, I got the fake goldleaf in order to try some illumination plates. Never came to fruition, though. I used it for these two paintings and their frames and the wine labels.
I may do celtic knots again.. I actually may incorporate them into my paintings eventually. I have many plans...

I love how the intricate details of the leaves and roots pair so well with the large brushstrokes in the sky and ground.

You think? I was thinking that the detail in the tree was out of proportion with the sky and ground. It is an earlier work, and I guess I haven't really looked at it that closely in a while. Thanks for that; I will look at it again.

It's pretty cool to be able to explore different levels of detail and texture in one work; it keeps it interesting. The background is expressive enough to counteract the central detailed tree. If you hadn't used such vivid colors and brushstrokes in the background, then the tree would appear greatly out of proportion. You've balanced the extremes quite well; it makes for a great unique painting.

VerΓ© nace. I like the detail in the layers and it wouldn't be the same without the curvature of the earth. The evening sky is very cool too.

Shanksh, mon! I used to have tons of celtic designs. I threw them all out... long story...
I used to even design tattoos. I designed my own... I love the knots! I do have a couple drawings that I've done recently that I will scan and submit someday...
