Description A companion piece to 's post-Mass Effect trauma, which you can find here championsandheroes.smackjeeves… with the rest of the Champions and Heroes comic and on tumblr championsandheroes.tumblr.com/

Sometimes I react very strongly to things in games, novels, etc. Certain feelings get deeply connected to certain things. To the point where I was genuinely had knots in my stomach when the Mako reappeared in ME2. And was unbelievably relieved when it was made away with in a cutscene and I didn't have to drive it. But then, I can't drive it at all and spent ages trying to make it up mountains and falling bouncing down. It's natural that it would be connected with a lot of bad feelings and frustration.
I did NOT expect the same feelings to ambush me at the sight of the fishtank in ME3. The constantly dying fishes apparently had a bigger impact on me than I thought XD

In a similar vein, I replayed the Luna mission in ME1 and spent the entire time horribly conflicted. The final message got me teary eyed and going all "right in the feels TTATT"

On a side note: the world needs more Zaeed fanart and fanfic. And you can never have enough Jack. But seriously. More Zaeed.

All hail Bioware (who also needs to give us more Zaeed)

Haha, the fish-feeder. That Shepard is willing to pay 25 000 credits for that speaks volumes of how bad she is at keeping them alive. I still don't get why EDI couldn't just do it for you on a specific time of the day. If all I have to do is push a button, then surely...

Wow, I completly forgot how expensive that thing was But I never bought anything really useful in the entire game anyway and still had a lot left when ending it
That was what I thought all time as well But once you get used to doing nothing on the Normandy before going up to your quaters and feeding the fish, it is really easy to keep them alive, so that didn't really bother me

You know that the renegade AI was the base for EDI?

From the Wiki: "During the assault on the Cerberus base, Cronos Station, EDI directs Shepard to research logs that reveal that EDI was born of the rogue Hannibal-class VI from Luna, with additional engineering from Reaper technology. "

So no need to cry.

PS: I thought it was fun driving the mako. But I also expect everyone of my companions kissed the earth afterwards. ^^
And I took carefully care of my fish. Maybe I even fed them too much.

Really? I was shattered when I couldn't have the Mako back. Especially after taking the Hammerhead for a spin the first time. That was a nightmare.......

Ddriana In reply to Birdi-cant-draw [2012-06-25 09:12:50 +0000 UTC]

Really? I had two issues with the hammerhead - you couldn't save while in it, and it could handle exactly 1 blow before it crashed and burned. But it handled much better than the mako and I didn't mind it as much. That being said, I was very happy I didn't have to drive anything in ME3.

Yeah, the Mako handled like a fridge on wheels, but at least it could take a hit. Still, I'm in agreement, it was nice to not have to drive

I just wanted to say Thank you, to you. I finally caved, because of this. I couldn't find the disc version anywhere. So I downloaded the entire first mass effect through Xbox live, all 7GB of it o_O

Because well, I didn't want to be left in the dark anymore and I wanted to understand the jokes and stuff Currently working on one, just got Tali. So yeah, long road ahead.

I hope you enjoy it thoroughly! I didn't care overly much for ME1, but loved ME2, and now that I'm replaying ME1 it's not half as difficult as I found it the first time (considering how I don't like first person shooters or sci fi, well, it might not have been the game's fault).

Just finished ME1, how could you not like that Mako! It was a laugh a minute. I lost count of how many times I tried to do flips and spins while launching off cliffs ...Then I realized what it must be like for those passengers inside. I fear Talis inner face mask might be contaminated.

Wait... is there a DLC for ME2 I am missing here?
'Cause i remember the Hammerhead hovercraft, but no Mako in the second game.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Ddriana In reply to Jops556 [2012-06-08 15:54:28 +0000 UTC]

No, you don't actually drive the mako in ME2, but you do run into it on... Tuchanka I believe. The cutscene reveals the mako, I panic, and then the cutscene continues and it is implied that you have already driven it by the end of the cutscene. Suspiciously absent: vomiting and whimpering from Shepard's crew.

that vehicle is called a Tomkah its the Krogan's version of an IFV. its twice the hight of the Mako (in order to house the massive size&weight of the Krogan race)

Ddriana In reply to malgrumm [2012-06-10 10:58:52 +0000 UTC]

Ahh... thanks for clearing that up. As far as I can remember nobody told me it wasn't a mako, and it certainly looks like a mako. ... and I've had Wrex in one of those, pretty sure it can fit krogans, but perhaps not as many as they'd like XD

malgrumm In reply to Ddriana [2012-06-13 02:04:48 +0000 UTC]

your welcome! i think you could only fit like 4-6 krogans in a tomkah.....

Oh, you mean the Krogan tank.
That's not actually the Mako, it's an other kind of land vehicle. I guess this explains why i was feeling lost here.

Felt sad to see it like that... I'm one of those few who actually loved the Mako. Best tank ever.

Ddriana In reply to TheRealSimagination [2012-06-08 00:27:12 +0000 UTC]

I can't drive it. At all. I bounce down cliffs, I get stuck in doorframes, I try to avoid running over space monkeys and end up running over three others.

TheRealSimagination In reply to Ddriana [2012-06-08 04:35:27 +0000 UTC]

You're not supposed to get CLOSE to them. You're supposed to STOP the rover, climb out, search the things one by one (I wonder if you can just go to the minikng complex first-off - that's where the device is - instead of first going all over the surface to the other two colonies and check them first...). For future referenmce Personally I just couldn't care less about those pyjacks.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Ddriana In reply to TheRealSimagination [2012-06-08 10:49:32 +0000 UTC]

First time I was playing renegade, so after the accident I proceeded to run over every single pyjack I could find (Liara judged me, harshly). The second time... I was trying to be paragon and still accidentally ran over pyjaks :I Guess I park too close... mainly due to being lazy and not wanting to run around forever. But in my defense I would like to add that they move!

And this is why we need Reapers, Organics will create synthetics to feed their fishes, the synthetics will be like F*** this, Organics will try and force the Synthetics to feed the fishes, and the synthetics will rebel, and so the Reapers kill us all.
Totally Legit.

Ddriana In reply to deathstrikesquirrel [2012-06-08 00:35:29 +0000 UTC]

Ah, but at that point the fish would be part synthetic too. And... maybe they don't need to eat? I'm not sure how it all works. In the privacy of my own mind I like to think that you did the reaper's jobs for them and huskified everyone. Fish husks. Awesome.

I can honestly say I have never had a problem with the Mako, but that stupid fish tank... I actually ONLY rescued Kelly in a playthrough because you can get her too feed the bastards. But in ME3-- you can buy a handy little machine that auto feeds them!

Ive had one too many romance scenes hosted by a background of the grim reapers aquarium.

Ddriana In reply to minktee [2012-06-05 09:42:24 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I know, the auto-fishfeeder is the best investment in the entire game XD Though I think that EDI should be able to do it. It only requires the press of a button after all :I
I don't care for Kelly, so... ahem. No. Sorry fishes. I tried, but we have limits.
