Description
My tools:Photoshop CS4
Wacom Tablet
Mouse
As far as I know this technique works for Gimp and Sai as well, but as I don't own these programs... well, I don't give guarantee on that.
What I can guarantee is that it works without a tablet as well, though it will make your life 10x easier (I use this technique with a mouse often too, so YES it does work.)
I'm open for questions concerning this tutorial but if you want to know more about how the different functions here work, please go and search for another tutorial here on DA!! There are tons of them.
And if you have advice of how I can make my tutorials better or more informative, feel free to tell me~
The promised coloring-tutorial
Oh well, hope it helps you out.

My school issues tablets with CS3 on them, and I'll be using mine for art a lot, so I was looking at this after failing miserably at coloring with no know-how...
Just gotta say, I had a huge "Oooooohhh....so THAT'S what that button does...." moment reading this XD
Very helpful, thanks so much!

Egads, how useful!
I never understood masks or clipping masks before, but I think I do now! Thank you so much!
How'd you create your lineart? It seems like it's traditional, since you were talking about separating it from the background layer?

Nya, I don't make them traditional, but many artists do, so I just thought I bend that step into the tut as well, cause I could almost hear the questions about that coming again

xD Use small spots... don't try to select all and shade it at once. That will look weird xD Best would be to make every shade as single step, but as I'm lazy... I select small areas and shade them together

No... it is VERY rare that I actually set my colorscheme before starting with the basecolors.
