Age: 65

Rank: Imperial Admiral (Formerly), Emperor

Height: 8.7ft

Flagship(s): The Scourge II, there are two ships of this name- Both Nemesis Class Supercarriers, both mighty starships, the first, The Scourge, constructed in High Charity before its fall for the Ruinous, the second on High Charity after its fall for Turok himself, serving as the Banicrons' capital ship. The first is a wreck on Mars, used as the Banicrons’ current main base of operations.

CSO Triumphant Harbinger, The All-Powerful 'Veteran' CSO Class Covenant Supercarrier was the flagship of Turok during the Human-Covenant war during his time as Supreme Commander and Imperial Admiral, now the Ship serves as one of the primary warships in the Banicron Fleet.

The Imperator's Flame, a Dark, giant Solvite Class Dromund Supercarrier, an ancient, mighty and legendary warship constructed by the 31st Emperor, the Flame has served many roles, being rebuilt over and over again, and its last incarnation served as the capital of the Dromund Home Fleet. Now the ship is currently undergoing reconstruction yet again.

Fleet(s): Fleet of Glorious Victory (Formerly)- Turok's former Fleet as a Supreme Commander and then Imperial Admiral of the Covenant. Glorious Victory was one of the largest fleets in the entire Hegemony and Turok used the fleet to spring up an army of violent followers for his Banicron revolution, and employed a policy of species equality in the fleet seen in seldom others across the Covenant. When the revolution began, Turok reformed the Fleet into The Fists of the Defiant and repurposed the ships inside it.

The Fists of the Defiant- Turok's main fleet of Banicron warships, the first fleet of the Banicron Empire, meant to spread the revolution across the Galaxy. Made from original Banicron, repurposed UNSC and Covenant warships, the Fists of the Defiant is a symbol to the Galaxy that change will come about, and Turok will stop at nothing to bring it.

Weapons:

'Conqueror of Doomed Worlds'- Release of bodily waste is a very common side-effect of being aimed at by this. It's not often a weapon comes along that would make Turok Nar 'Mgragath consider using in a duel in spite of his energy sword. His custom-made Cosmic Fusion Cannon with terribly scary upgrades and an antimatter energy blade that would make the Precursor Ravtuk halt his quest for power, is that weapon. The weapon was inspired by an arm-mounted predecessor to the modern Fuel Rod Gun Turok found amongst the wreckage of an ancient battle between the Covenant Hegemony and the Ussans and acquired for his own personal use. After he became the apprentice of The Ruinous, Turok gained knowledge of numerous dangerous and advanced technological designs from his master and he used them and numerous pieces of scavenged Forerunner technology to construct the Conqueror, which would become Turok's signature weapon and he would end up using it more often than his sword. Mounted on his right arm through some sort of shackle, the Conqueror draws energy from an unknown interdimensional source (some believe it draws from the ‘essence’ of a black hole) and uses it to fire gamma-irradiated plasma and antimatter at a target. The Dark Lord and Leader of the Banicrons uses this weapon to rip through his foes at deadly speed and murderous effectiveness. With his upgrades, the last blast in every ‘clip’ packs an extra surprise, containing 5 times the explosive power of ordinary shots. The Cosmic Fusion Cannon can also be fitted with a Gravitonic Field Generator powered by a microscopic black hole, all held within a quantum zero-point energy cage. When it is fired at a target, it pulls the weight of multiple dimensions upon it, causing an implosion, and it's only been used on full power once. So, what do you want for Christmas now?

'Crushing Punishment'- When Turok runs into battle, he's often seen to whip out his unstable Blood Red Energy Sword, with a mighty crimson blade which can slice almost anything and block many forms of fire. Burning with a powerful flame of overloading energy, Turok's sword can be charged with his Dark Power (most effective with lightning) to enhance it's damage output. Crushing Punishment is modified with numerous Dark Alchemist technologies, enabling it to become a physical conduit of darkness that is said to require the pure, unrestrained intent to kill in order for it to be effective.

'Riot Cannons'- Turok, when he hasn't got the Conqueror equipped, uses two pistol-like weapons similar to it mounted on both his gauntlets, both can be fired individually, but are not so powerful or easy to use, so when he brings his arms close together, the weapons can combine to form a much larger cannon, much more powerful and accurate. For this reason, the weapon is presumably telescopic, and requires a steady aim.

'Voice of Revolution'- An ancient, arm-mounted predecessor to the modern Fuel Rod Gun Turok found on the body of a dead soldier in the sands of Sangheilios as a member of the Ministry of Fervent Intercession hunting for relics. Turok, recognising the weapon as that of an Ussan, adopted the gun as his own and shackled it to his right arm. The Voice of Revolution became his primary weapon alongside his energy sword, but it was later replaced by a self-made cosmic fusion cannon drawing power from interdimensional forces and using them to deliver a devastating blow. Regardless, Turok sees this weapon as an important part of his own life and used it right up until just before the Great Schism. Now, the weapon is locked away among many of 'Mdragath's other personal belongings.

'Unbreakable Will'- A traditional Dark Alchemist Vorpal sword- A weapon Turok made when he first came to the Aurash Empire, which went through several redesigns and ornamental changes, all of which Turok did himself whilst he inspired his Banicron revolution across said Empire. When he left Dorkmund Ravaas to return to the Covenant, the Will was left in the Emperor's Chambers. There, the sword remained protected by the Seething Guard. When Turok returned to lead the Empire, he dismissed the guard and reclaimed the sword as he declared a new age of conquest on the galaxy.

'Wit's End'- A Mace with a flail function injected with Hadean Sapphire that uses Hadean Sapphire as its spikes. Wit's End can extend the mace using a long chain that is activated through the flick of a switch and has the raw strength to break apart thick concrete and smash through heavy armour plating.

'Slave's Solace'- The Ancient Type-21 Plasma Pistol Turok recovered whilst working as a slave in the Badlands. When Turok found this weapon, it had only 16% charge remaining in it, and he concealed it within the small gap between his massive slave collar and skin before he eventually used it to kill his oppressors. It was with Slave's Solace that Turok took his first sentient life, and ever since he has kept the Pistol as a personal memento, charged exactly at 16%, a number which became synonymous with the Banicron movement.

'Skewer of Stationists'- A Retooled Honour Guard Energy Stave, made into a spear with a purple blade which he can throw accurately and aim and slaughter hundreds using with ease.

Personality: Across the galaxy, the name Turok invokes fear and terror, exuding raw power with an unslakable thirst for more. A warlord intent on domination, not just of his world, but of all worlds... and in some views, all of existence- in his endless quest for 'galactic domination' which will cause the deaths of trillions, and possibly more in it's path. But beneath all that, the awesomely powerful Turok is, in many ways, a fallen hero.

Infuriated by the inequality of the Covenant's hegemonic caste system, Turok Nar 'Mdragath is the modern founder of the Banicron uprising, a violent revolutionary movement gaining followers from all across the galaxy (and even beyond!). If you were to ask Turok to describe himself in one word, he'd probably go with "heroic". He sees himself as a freedom fighter leading the Banicrons in a righteous struggle against "tyranny". The fact that he's hoping to replace that with his own brand of tyranny is totally justified though, because that's the only way to establish peace and restore the galaxy to glory!

But Turok was not always the viciously powerful and brutally direct leader of the Banicrons: He rose up from the oppressed lower working classes of Karrovar to become a champion in the region's illegal gladiatorial deathmatches. He called for an end to the Covenant's decrepit caste system and told the downtrodden that freedom of self-determination was the right of all sentient beings!

He used to be brothers-in-arms with Thora 'Marumee, the one who would later become his greatest enemy, and was a student of High Councillor Sytel 'Privadee. With the guidance of his teacher, he was appointed as Supreme Commander and eventually the Imperial Admiral of the entire Covenant Military, charged with being the Protector of The Covenant's citizens and interests. But absolute power corrupts absolutely, and Turok's later Banicron Revolution ended up becoming a whole new tyranny. The Covenant's hegemonic system truly frustrated him to no end, and it was only a matter of time before he snapped. This anger allowed a being named The Ruinous to ensnare him and led to the revival of the Banicron Ideology. Even without The Ruinous, it's not hard to imagine that Turok would have erupted the whole Covenant into civil war to rid himself of the caste system he hated so much.

As a young, charismatic leader forged in battle and the heat of war, he began to believe in his grand purpose— that it is his glorious destiny alone to lead the charge to make immediate and progressive change to the galaxy: Peace Through Tyranny. The opposite of his mortal enemy Thora 'Marumee, he feels great contempt for others who, he feels, betray themselves by demanding peace and cooperation with those who hold back change. It is the destiny of the Banicrons to protect and bring equality to the universe through conquest, though in the many years since coining this purpose it remains to be seen how much of his mission statement is altruistic... and how much of it is mere words built to fuel warriors and further his desire for personal power.

Powerful, violent, and full of rage for any who would stand in the way of his ambition and drive, 'Mdragath brought High Charity past the brink of destruction. Now he and his former brother-in-arms Thora fight on other worlds. Turok will never forgive 'Marumee for "betraying" him and his revolution, and he has reserved for his old friend the greatest honour possible: glorious death at his hands.

'Mdragath tends to become so obsessed with the object of his desires that trying to talk him out of blindly going for his goals is useless. He will risk his world, his troops, and even his own life to achieve his goals. Like his master, Turok feels a violent hatred to those, particularly the Covenant's Prophets who refuse change and views them as objects in his path- a feeling exacerbated by spending decades as their servant. Despite this fatal flaw, Turok did not achieve his dreaded status through simple warmongering. He's a manipulative, cunning strategist who can plan multiple schemes spanning millennia, and while they may overlap, they all help him towards his one, true goal: the restoration of Maethrillian- a utopian society that used to be the crown jewel of the galaxy. For all his evils, Turok genuinely strives to save his universe some day, even if it means he has to rule it with an iron fist and put his bloodlust to good use to do so.

Some would question his sanity, though these few are mostly now dead by his hands... or his cannon, depending on his mood. Sometimes he uses his sword or mace to strike them down. It does not matter how they die. Death by the hands of Turok Nar 'Mdragath is an honour.

(Wasn't even going to bother finding out if this would exceed the description limit, so here's Turok's entire life story, so sit up, grab some popcorn and read ahead my friend: docs.google.com/document/d/1-r… )

Quotes:

"All Hail Turok!!!!"- When triumphant

"Because in the final analysis, I would happily wade across a river of corpses, chest-deep in bones and blood and tears, just to crush the heart of the last enemy standing. And I would not do so simply as a means to an end. No. I'd do it, 'Marumee, because it would give me pleasure."

"I am the Dominator, I am the Destroyer, I am TUROK!!!!"- Upon first wielding The Power Chaos

"In a society built around a Grand Covenant Taxonomy..."- The beginning of Onward to Peace, the first of Turok's revolutionary political writings.

"Raise your hands if you're sick of the Covenant's Hegemonic Caste System..."

"Yesterday was the day for repression, tomorrow will be the day for change, but today....today is the day for judgement!"- Said before executing the Prophet of Orderly Advance in front of a crowd of Banicron supporters

Turok: "At last we take our rightful places Thora 'Marumee....as gods! Wielding the power of the cosmos!" Thora 'Marumee: "I am but a soldier Turok, and you are a prisoner of your own twisted delusions!"

"I still live..."

"I will violate trillions of beings if it means bringing about change to the galaxy!"

"No!!! The Stationists WILL DIE!!!"

"You still fight for the weak! That is why you lose!"- To Thora 'Marumee

"Another craven scare tactic, the name was meant to demonise us, instead, we wear it as a badge of honour, for if our innocence is the price for truth, then we are gladly guilty."- Explaining the meaning of the word 'Banicron' and how the Banicrons reappropriated it to mean something else entirely.

"...and this will be our new symbol."

Thora: "High Charity, our home. Once grand and honourable, but pride and a lust for power divided us, now we fight, enemies, who were once our brothers. Our tragic war has ravaged worlds." Turok: "It is a necessary war, to return us to glory." Thora: "The Tridents, will never sacrifice freedom." Turok: "The Banicrons will bring this world to order!" Thora: "Our defeat would mean the end of everything." Turok: "My victory will mark a brilliant new beginning!" Thora: "At the end of this day, one shall stand." Turok: "And one shall fall."

"Peace Through Tyranny."

Turok: "Not bad for a librarian. Perhaps you should've spent more time in the pit." Thora: "And perhaps you should've spent more time in the library."

"You're either with me, or against me."

"So long as you stand in my way-so long as anyone stands in my way, I will respond by killing. Murder on an industrial scale."

"NO!!! I WILL NOT BE DENIED!!!"

"You see, leadership is not something I fear losing: it is something I dread you gaining. In the moments when my all-consuming destiny lies ahead of me, you remind me of the need to watch my back. And that is your importance, Stato."- To his treacherous second in command, Stato 'Screm

"For nothing's power can be fully unlocked, until I have opened it!"

"At the end of this tunnel, the concept of good and evil fade away, history shall judge me as the victor."

"I will rule the universe."

"The Prophets carved up the Covenant's population according to notions of utility: your form dictated your function, and your function dictated your fate. Social engineering in the most literal sense. Someone had to say 'No', someone had to say 'Enough'. I was that person. "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings". Where the hell were you when people like me were forced to fight in the pits simply because our ancestors were raised that way?"

"The rules should apply to everyone...or no one."- Said at the end of one of his revolutionary speeches

"Wrong. I free slaves. Implant ideology. I build them up. I liberate civilisations. I topple worlds."

"Fall!....FALL!!!"

Noro 'Bangumee: "You have proven nothing Turok! In fact, you've become just like me- for all empires are built on the backs of slaves." Turok: “Yes Noro, they are. Your empire was built by slaves toiling away to feed your gluttony, my empire was built by slaves rising up and getting rid of the systems that made them so.”

"Until we meet again in Urs' everlasting light."- To Thora 'Marumee

"No longer will you be burdened by freedom and democracy. Henceforth, my will is the only guidance you shall require. Embrace the Banicron way and reap its rewards...or resist- and face destruction."

"Mwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!!!!!!!!!!!"

"I see the universe all at once!"- Upon being bonded with the Progenitor and becoming the most powerful being in the universe

“I am the greatest warrior who ever lived. And you Noro, are about to become the greatest slavemaster that ever died.”

"Citizens of the Golden City: I, Turok, have destroyed your unworthy leader Zola 'Petumee. Now, you have the privilege of experiencing my rule...I shall not be denied!"

”I’ll stop when all of you are dead!”

Turok: “I should really be thanking you Noro.” Noro 'Bangumee: “Why’s that Turok?” Turok: “Without you, had Zuka and I not been forced to submit under your hooves, I would’ve never experienced fear...anger...hate...suffering. Four emotions that guided me, sustained me. When I was assigned the ‘station’ that the ‘gods’ selected for me, I realised that the Covenant, the very ideology that swore to protect us, was no different from you and your slavers. Had I not, then Stationism would still reign supreme. So three cheers to Noro ‘Bangumee: the man who started the Banicron Revolution! Unfortunately, your usefulness was outlived decades ago.”

Turok: "It seems I would be at a severe disadvantage. You could end this all here and now, with one fell swoop. Go on- seize the day! Thora would." Spectra: "No. he wouldn't. Not like this."

Lord Marr 'Xentum: "What is this?" Turok: "Just a little graffiti." Marr: "And what does it mean?" Turok: "It means you may be deceived...but I will not."

"No foe shall survive my coming, not even Death herself."

"Gah! Tell me- were you always this sanctimonious? Or is it something you had to work at? Behold, the infallible Thora 'Marumee: Wise, courageous, compassionate! A gold and purple armoured-paragon of virtue! How tiring that must be! The insecurity, the loneliness, the agonising self-doubt!"- To Thora 'Marumee

"Die, or defeat me, either way, the Galaxy is mine!"

Thora 'Marumee: "Let's set the scene. I'm dead. The Tridents are no more. The Universe, or what's left of it, is yours. A thousand planets have been resculpted, conquered, revolutionised. Whatever. The Banicron Empire is resplendent. And there you sit, at the centre of it all. What then?" Turok: "Then the real change begins. Equality to the masses. Repopulation. The Rebirth of Maethrillian. A new golden age; one that will put the Age of the Forerunners to shame. Imagine! A civilisation free from conflict! Everyone's needs met. All people following the paths they desire. No want, no unhappiness, no dissent. An unrestricted forward-moving society under one absolute leader: Peace Through Tyranny." Thora 'Marumee: "And what of autonomy, democracy, free will? Where do they fit into your brave new world?" Turok: "They won't be missed."

"'MARUMEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!"- Shouting at Thora 'Marumee

"I am alpha and omega, the beginning and the end. I am that which is, which was, and is yet to come... and you will know my name is Turok when I lay my vengeance upon you!"

"Democracy. Pah! What a glorified connivence."

"You could, blind to your own needs, forcibly contribute to wars waged solely for the benefit of those at the top of the system, perpetuating the status quo and the issue of insurgency-or...you could take arms for yourselves, resist the system and fight a war to change the Galaxy you live in forevermore, so no one will be left in need of help from powers that couldn't care less for them! So I call upon you humanity, to join the Banicron revolution, and get rid of the system that enslaves you!"- Part of Turok's broadcast to the people of the UEG.

”This war started as a revolution. Not a genocide. Give them the choice of joining us, and those who accept will be welcomed with open arms. Resistors will be treated otherwise.”

Turok: “Let me cut to the chase. I know what you’re trying to do to defeat the Flood. And it won’t work.” Thora ‘Marumee: “What do you mean?” Turok: “I mean, that I know you’re trying to rebuild Halo. Fix the rings. Improve them so they can only target the Flood.” Thora ‘Marumee: “And let me guess, you want control of them, so you’re going to find them all and hold them all to ransom until we give in to your demands.” Turok: “Ha! On the contrary, Thora. I want to help you. My goals of galactic revolution are dead if the parasite wins. Here. I know that your little alliance has had a hard time detecting the presence of organics affected by the logic plague. This device has been designed to work in conjunction with your scanning technology. It will allow you to perform a scan not just on the mental, but the existential level- where the Flood’s manipulation truly lies. Here. Take it.” Thora ‘Marumee: “You provide us with a tool to aid us, but why do you not fight beside us? Together we are assembling the largest galactic coalition in history, we are fighting for all our futures- yours included. So why do you not join?” Turok: “Because I do not need to, Thora. I know that you’ll win. You always do. But when you win, it will leave behind a Galaxy weakened, battered and bruised. Unable to fight in the wake of the Flood’s defeat.” Thora ‘Marumee: “And then? What will you do?” Turok: “I will conquer this Galaxy- and it will be so easy. What do you say, Thora? Do you accept my gift?” Thora ‘Marumee: “I accept.” (In the future)

"No....TAKE MEEEEE!!!"

Turok: "Let me tell you something 'Marumee. I don't hate you. Oh I hate everything you represent. And I hate the obstacles you put in my way, but don't think I don't understand why you're trying to stop me. That I forgive you for. And what about you? Do you hate me? I don't think I've ever heard you say it." Thora ‘Marumee: “Ye-no…I-I don’t know. I don’t know how I feel about you, Turok. You were my closest friend once. I had believed we would be that way forever, but then you went down this path- this dark, evil path I could not follow, and yet, I still hold out hope that you can be saved. I consistently see how wrong I am to think that it is possible, but I never stop hoping nonetheless. So no, Turok. I don’t hate you. “Hate” is far too coarse, too simple a word. It may sustain you, but it diminishes me. I am lessened by it.”

Thel 'Vislumee: "Sounds more like self-interest than 'greater good'." Turok: "Only because you imagine that there is a difference."

Turok: “I see...inside you beats the heart of a true Banicron! Join my Revolution, and we will tear down the powers that be, and erect a new order on their place!” Hellrider/Spartan-S066 Benny Scorchead: “Rather douse my skull in acid.” Turok: “So be it, rider.”

Thora ‘Marumee: “No lasting change can be implemented through violence Turok. It is only through peace that we set ourselves on the path to true progress, not the harshness of dictatorship.” Turok: “Peace ‘Marumee? How can you ever achieve something so sweet as peace, with the sourness of corruption and the cruelty of oppression that your ‘democracy’ enables? And for all your talk of words rather than wars ‘Marumee, by fighting me, you adopt my philosophy. You embrace the way I foster change. You lose the game simply by playing it Thora, how long until your followers realise that the only difference between us is that your strategy produces results slower? What then?”

Remarks:

"He's what you might call a thinker."- Yen Vhar, one of the miners and gladiators in 'Naevor's Gladiatorial Arena on Turok's demeanour

Thora 'Marumee: "Just let me talk to him, he's my friend." Irok 'Hardan: "Your friend is gone Thora!"

”Look at Turok. I’m going to blast that smile right off his mandibles.”- Xytan ‘Ventam/Blade Demonslayer

”Turok is planning something...it seems we now wage a war in secret not just with the Klawe...but with him.”- The High Prophet of Reliance

”Well played Turok. Well. Played.”- Reliance commenting on how Turok managed to convince both he and the other Hierarchs to form the Covenant Sagacity Commission.

DecidingNebula In reply to LordArcheronVolistad [2020-05-29 00:51:26 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much! I was really glad when I finished him and he turned out to flow much better than I thought whilst I was writing him. I really enjoyed sprinkling tons of different portions of lore in there such as a certain glimpse into the future of the Haloverse, the TCJ, a name for how the Covenant Caste system is organised and the specifics of Stationism, the power of Hadean Sapphire, my physical and historical changes to what High Charity is and how it works, The main goal of Turok was to make the definitive fallen hero character, the perfect parallel to the hero, and showcase the grim reality of the Covenant's caste system and show someone who would normally be at the top experience what it's like to be at the bottom, and then as a result, find the strength to inspire others to get rid of those on top who refuse to change their ways. I really threw myself into the deep end on this one, and I constantly put myself in Turok's mindset to help write his story. I had to make a situation that was stifling enough to make people hungry for the Desticron revolution, and I think the Covenant's castes, the Dromunds' magocracy and the UEG's military-industrial complex really are the perfect Satan's trifecta that rile people up enough to get them to rise up.

Of course, and for a time I thought a lot about how a quote like this could work. For one, I think it says a lot about how he is perhaps much more interested in clinging to power than anything else, but when Turok says he doesn't want free will to be around anymore, I think it's more to do with the political sides of it- such as the freedom to choose leaders, idols, ideals and so forth- anyone is allowed to be what they want, under Turok, no Jiralhanae would be stopped from becoming a scientist simply because they are a Jiralhanae, but if someone was to challenge Turok's beliefs, to come up with a new cause that threatens to undo the revolution, then they better be ready to fight, because the Desticrons run on a very might-makes-right philosophy, and because Turok has all the might, he is therefore right. Turok believes that the freedom to choose who and what you are is fine, but once you choose to believe in something that threatens Turok in the slightest, there is no way he can possibly allow it, because with clashing views come the very restrictions on change he does not believe there is time for any longer- if everyone is forced to think this way, we all move in the same direction- forward. It also alludes to his insatiable desire to flush out every last trace of Stationism and other like ideologies he hates so much.

I really like Turok because not only is he hella cool, but I feel like every battle he has with Thora is more than just a battle, but it's the only chance the two get to really talk to one another, and try to turn each other to their own paths. Every fight is a debate and the worst part is they fight for almost the exact same thing- equality, but Thora cares about others regardless of what they believe, and Turok does not have time for bureaucracy. The story of Turok I feel is a tale about how even the most good-willed, noble and honourable can be driven to commit the most insanely evil acts possible, and feel literally no guilt for any of it.
