Description Наконец-то поставил точку в одном из своих давних проектов. Silverone - персонаж *Bobbie-the-Jean , четвероногая интерпретация моя. Существа сделаны в Zbrush 4r2, а халтурный фон подрисован в фотошопе.

Finally managed to close this long running w.i.p. Silverone is *Bobbie-the-Jean 's character, quarduped interpretation is my idea. Both creatures made using Zbrush, and fail background drawn in Photoshop.

Wow! This is so awesome! I adore how the tails came out. ;u;
The background gives a very stylized feeling to your composition too!

Weird tails with extra fluffiness are the distinct trait of style which I tried to match. Thanks!

This is outstanding! What a wonderful gift! You are extraordinarily talented. I especially like the way you did the fur. Amazing. Really, very well done.

Thank you, Bobbie! You are always inspiring me. Sorry if background did not come out very well, kinda rushed it to the end.

this is really cool, I want to learn how to use those programs but I can't figure out how they work, I would love to make my dragon characters like that, they would look cool

Thanks! Cannot advice you much about learning though. Practice more, start from simple things like head sculpts, try to complete some tutorials from the web.

I got one called Blender but I had a hard time figuring out how to make it work lol And I downloaded Zbrush last year and I couldn't get it to work

Hopefully I can figure something out. I was trained in Maya a few years ago but I kinda forgot the lessons lol. Hopefully it will all come back to me.

Blender is a very strange software. The developers put so much good features in it, but crappy interface makes them almost unusable.

What's the problem with running Zbrush? I think it has pretty low system requirements. Version 3.1 worked for me even on Celeron 500 based computer.

Hmm when I reinstalled it, it seems to be working fine now, now I wish I brought my tablet over to my parents' to play with lol But I hope I can have fun with it
I have a Gateway laptop with Intel duel core 2 Duo Processor Centrino, if that means anything lol

Your system specs seems to be pretty good. Zbrush can benefit from dual core processors. If you also have enough RAM, it should work without problems.

When you will move to more complex projects, I can advice you to build models from separate subtools rather than from one highly detailed mesh. For example, the model you see on this picture includes nearly 20 millions of polygons. Because my PC can handle only about 5 millions per mesh, I made most details like wings, ears, etc as separate subtools, and also split the body in 3 parts. The posing was a pain, but this approach allowed me to overcome the limitations of my system.

Oh wow that is crazy! But that sounds really cool, I have to figure out how to use the program first lol I can't figure out how to do indents in Zbrush, I can make many external globuals but they don't look like anything lol. Hopefully I will figure something out eventually

Indents? If you are referring to working with brushes, enable Zsub mode in brush controls, or hold Alt during brush stroke; this makes brush to substract volume instead of adding.

Okies I shall give it a try when I am back at my place with my tablet. Do you use one of those for your Zbrush models?

DeckardX08 In reply to mialythila [2011-12-26 09:43:07 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I do use Wacom Bamboo (if I got you right). It would be very difficult to sculpt something decent without the pressure sensitivity support.

Will that help with the creation of indents and dips or do I still have to do the other thing? I can't remember what it was tho...

DeckardX08 In reply to mialythila [2011-12-29 20:32:58 +0000 UTC]

I thought that you asked if I use tablet in your previous post. If you meant "do I use Zsub mode while making my models", yes I do. I can repeat: "enable Zsub mode or hold Alt during brush stroke"

Maybe you can show some pictures explaining what exactly you want to do? I can explain you more specific methods.

I am very happy you are willing to help me out with this I looked through some of the tutorials. I still need to get used to everything, I figured out how to do what I was asking about I thank you for that
Ar least with Zbrush I can figure out a bit easier then Maya which is what I was trained on originally and that is too "mathy" for me.
Now I am trying to figure out how to bring up or get the symmetry brush or tool to work, I can't remember what the guy in the tutorial said he did. I want to try to make one of my dragon characters from this, but it will be a little while before I can figure it out lol
I need to review the tutorials again, I don't like using them but they are the best thing for me to use right now.

Thanks, the wings were a pain to make in Zbrush 4.0. In 4r2 working with multiple objects is improved.
