For all of you people stalking me, throwing bricks through my windows, hunting me with whips and beating me because I haven't drawn an anime picture here yah go. . .Just kidding. . .none of those things have happened. . .
I finally got some time to sit back and draw again! Yay! I'm so happy. It seems like forever since I've been able to draw. . .
Well anyways. . .here's to a new year in a few days!
I like how her hair turned out. . .

This is a very old piece and a lot of the mistakes are easily seen in this drawing. Unfortunately, a lot of the problems with this piece are due heavily to the terrible, old scanner I had back in high school. Things like the faded lineart and the (seemingly) non-existant outline for the collar were due to the scanner's very bad contrasting settings. I would have changed it so the digital version would have been more visible but I didn't have any computer software at the time and I didn't want to make the original piece ruined.
The shading on the breast is due to the colored pencil I was using running out of lead so I was forced to try and find a similar color. This was probably the only area that the scanner helped to hide the distinction. (Trust me, the original is far worse lol)
I totally agree about the hair! I mainly drew this piece as a practice for hair shines and I feel I learned a lot from making it, even though there are a ton of mistakes. That's also why I didn't make too much effort on finishing the shoulder etc. . .

Your welcome buddy! I always try to put some effort into crits since I hate getting really quick thoughtless ones. I understand where your coming from though, my old scanner was horrible and would often change my artwork and sometimes just ruin it. It's a good study and you did well with the hair too!

I think your style is pretty cool. But it could use some improvements. The angles of her eyes doesn't match the angle of her face, or else they're too close together.
In some areas the colouring is gorgeous, but other parts need more attention. Her hair and the leaves have nice contrast and texture and you should do that with the rest of the picture, too. Also, try to make your colouring smoother.

I like the coloring and shading and lighting on her hair! Looks really pretty. I also think you did a good job of drawing her face at that angle...Nothing looks terribly squashed or anything, and the eyes are lined up and nicely in proportion.
The hairstyle is really neat, especially all the swirly parts behind her ear and the curly strands at the bottom. However in the middle it doesn't work quite as well because the strands there are sooo much smaller that they don't fit in with the look of the rest of the hair which is composed of larger bunches of hair.
All in all, though, it's a good pic.

yay gabe and his ability to draw amazingly well! i really love the rose in her hair actually. it might just be because its drawn really well, but probably its also because i like roses. her hair is really nice 2...jeeze i wish i could draw like u silly kid
