Description

On a still, clear dawn at Waterlook Bay, the elements aligned to allow this kind of image. In the distance, moonset occurred with sunrise which makes for fantastic long lens opportunities to capture the moon and foreground within the one exposure. After taking this shot, I switched lenses to focus on the moon.

Your explanation of this photo makes it fascinating! It reminds me, so much, of a special vacation I took with my grandparents to Nova Scotia.

This is gorgeous! The colors are so vibrant! And they're in a gradient that looks too amazing to be real. The water is so clear while still being a mirror somehow. The hints of land in the distance remind you that you haven't gotten lost. I'm really drawn to the buoy, though, out of all of this. I'm not sure what it is. Maybe it's because of the contrast in color. I think, though, it's more the contrast of elements. Even boats can be ancient constructions but the buoy is clearly modern, reminding us that this is happening in our world today and we could go see it with our own eyes if we were lucky enough.

You had to have something beautiful to begin with to make something like this. I've no doubt. I can't wait to move somewhere where I'll actually have nice views again! Maybe that'll inspire me to play around with cameras again...

with its distant clarity, an image such as this, can urge:
our focus forward beyond the horizon
our attention further toward the moon
our vision outward to both past and future
with your permission, Dylan, i'd like to post this photo,
in conjunction with my descriptive words, as a deviation -
[provided i can figure out how to do it], of course with
the appropriate credit and link to your site and work.pip

Jan , I was using 16-35mm for this series and swapped out for a 70-200 with a 2X extender for a shot of a pelican on the horizon with the moon
